Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) Distributed by Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment
 ... the DVD
Smile ..

During the added DVD documentary* Michelle Yeoh states that the James Bond film brought her to the attention of the Western World and this 4 time Oscar winner of a movie took her up to another level.

Directed by Ang Lee, the narrative centres around a martial arts master's sword called The Green Destiny. Defeated by his quest for revenge of the death of his master by a woman called Jade Fox, Li Mu Bai ( Chow Yun Fat ) now wants to spend his time with a lost love & another master, Yu Shu Lien ( Yeoh ). Lovers Unfortunately the sword is stolen by a young untrained fighter, Jen ( the lovely Zhang Ziyi ) add to this her new love, a desert bandit called Dark Cloud ( Chang Chen ) and you have a colourful Far Eastern tale.

Yeoh had to learn a new tongue, Mandarin to add to her martial arts skills which resemble dance movements at times. It's pure fantasy with the flying sequences done at a high-skilled pace and beautifully filmed.

Nice sword ..

This DVD comes into it's own with a dual soundtrack, the native Mandarin & dubbed English. Watch with subtitles to hear the natural dialogue or later with the dubbed. The DVD menu reminds of a martial arts computer game. An end song Love Before Time by Coco Lee is added, better in English, reminiscent of a Disney theme song.

Enjoy ! * Quick Tip: save the added documentaries until after viewing the movie.
