Another of those globe-trotting adventure movies with an ageing Sean 007 Connery as Mac, a master arts thief who is challenged by an insurance investigator Gin played with an American accent by Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones following her success with The Mask of Zorro.

Also in the cast is Ving Rhames as FBI agent Thibadeaux which reminds of his role in Mission: Impossible as an equipment supplier. Watch out for the actor playing the art buyer Conrad Green, he would make a good Cubby Broccoli if they ever did a biopic on the Bond producer's life. Also AVTAK's David Yip as Head of Police during the end heist.

Mac explains that "entrapment is what cops do to thieves", so with twists & turns in the plot we are taken to locations in America, Malaysia, Scotland & England. The movie looks good especially with the staged hi-tech heists. The opening dive off a building is a variation of the opening dive in GoldenEye as both staged by Bond Stunt & Second Unit Director Vic Armstrong.

It maybe entertaining but it still lacks something for me and was compared with the better, later released re-make of The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan. This caper misses any real sparkle between the co-stars despite the on-going efforts of bendy & athletic Zeta-Jones. The ending sight of ( co-producer ) Sean from a distance on a railway platform just highlights the obvious age difference and lack of on-screen chemistry with his co-star. Would the narrative have worked better with a father/daughter relationship ? Despite these moans, enjoyed the romantic score by Christopher Young and Seal's end song.

The video comes with a Making of .. documentary of the movie and shows the locations, filming & interviews with the stars.
