Time to take to the skies ...

Rocketeer (1991) Distributed by Touchstone Home Video
Rocketeer
Nice backpack son!

Set before the outbreak of World War II, a secret power pack is discovered by an unlucky pilot called Cliff Secord ( played by Bill tv's Dynasty & Moon Over Miami Campbell ). With help from his friend & engineer, Peevy who manages to correct the power pack's fault and designs a questionable flying helmet. So when an emergency arises, Cliff has to put his flying skills to the test in a daring rescue as the latter named Rocketeer.

Tim's a bad guy !

It has the excellent Timothy 007 Dalton playing an Errol Flynn Hollywood movie star, Neville Sinclair with a 'twinkle in his eye'. He gets mixed up with Cliff's girl-friend, Jenny ( early role for Jennifer Connelly ) who wants to become a budding movie star. We later discover that Sinclair is a Nazi spy ( no Bond hasn't defected ! ).

Bill's the fly guy !

There is a good music score from James Titanic Horner who uses a mixture of light piano and big instrumentals to accompany the action.

Apart from Campbell, watch out for the tv faces of Terry Millennium/Lost O'Quinn as an understanding Howard Hughes, Eddie Superman's Dad Jones as clumsy ex-pilot Malcolm and Max Star Trek: DS9's Rom Grodenchik as gangster Wilmer who comes to a sticky end in a hospital .. no thanks to a big guy who is taller and uglier than 007's villain Jaws.

It's all good comic book stuff but just sit back and enjoy this 'Indy' type adventure.

Great Saturday or Sunday afternoon viewing for the family !
