     Ian Fleming: Where Bond Began ( BBC1, Sun 18:10 )

    This special documentary presented by former Bond Girl Joanna 0HMSS Lumley delves "into the world of the man who created James Bond" As explained more about "the true story of creator Ian Fleming" than the latest movie. After a movie montage opens with the host looking inside Fleming's Jamaican home of Goldeneye and showing where he typed his books. Mixed with b&w footage of Fleming talking there about Bond.
    The programme starts with the Fleming family history with help from Ben MacIntytre - author of Ian Fleming and James Bond, trip to Eton College where Lumley meets Michael Meredith, Librarian who shows a short story by Fleming when he was 17 and which he sold for £60 which was a lot in those days and says there was a Eton boy whom Fleming disliked called Scaramanga. Then on to Horse Guards Parade and chats to author Sebastian Faulks about Fleming's literary tricks - a journalistic style with short sentences. His love of cars is discussed as Lumley drives an open top Aston Martin. Then on to Admiralty House to visit Room 39 and see the fireplace where a Naval Fleming stood next to in a photo when working for Admiral Godfrey whom he later based for M for his 14 books. Meets Brian Fraser-Smith whose father Charles was the wartime Q and demonstrates the gadgets used by Fleming's specialist team.

Down in National Archives she meet James Taylor, Historian for the Imperial War Museum where we discover 007 origins as he "pinched" from the Most Secret document numbers and suggests Blofeld's hideaway was based on Hitler's one. The author's women start with his love for Muriel - Muse who died during the war and is compared to Tracy's death in OHMSS. Jo on beach
    More Goldeneye footage with Jamaican music, b&w footage of friend Noel Coward talking about renting and sleeping on the hard bed. Ian's love and marriage to Ann Reilly is covered and the host sits and looks through Fleming's red note books and finds the line .. Quantum Of Solace nothing else. Moves to his private beach and standing in the blue water reads Honey's exit from the sea in Dr No.
    Back in London talks to Godrey Smith, Fleming's work collegue during his time on The Sunday Times. Travel writer Fleming would leave Friday afternoons to get a game of golf in while his journalist pals would work on through to the weekend deadline. Next she exits a landing helicopter on a city roof-top to visit De Veres and chats to Young Bond author Charlie Higson. Seated at a table with piles of diamonds worth £24 million. They discuss The Fleming Effect, his deep research into topics like diamonds, gold, golf etc. Outside to another location so Joanna could use her New Avengers training to fire Bond's 'ladies' gun, a Beretta and b&w footage of arms expert Geoffrey Boothroyd explaining the need for change. The expert became Major Boothroyd (aka Q) in the books and later shown in gun changing scene in Dr No. Back in town to discuss cocktails and then Bond women with The Moneypenny Diaries author Samantha Weinberg especially his choice of names and being sexist in his books. The host recalls her pride of being a Bond Girl with 2 lines !
    Success for Fleming followed with the movies discussed with MacIntytre and movie montage clips which included filming of QOS's boat chase. Ends with a visit to Fleming's golf course at Royal St George and chatting to Fionn Morgan, his step-daughter to wife Ann about the couple's relationship.
    During the programme short Bond movie clips were shown ( DN, FRWL, GF, CR .. ) along with extracts from the books read by TND villain Jonathan Pryce as "the voice of Ian Fleming" who also read his Letter to William Plomer in 1960 about killing off our hero. Other audio clips include Fleming on BBC Radio's Desert Island Discs where he justified Bond's bachelor life-style of one women a year. The programme ends with beach scenes from Goldeneye accompanied by Sinatra's YOLT song. Overall a lot of topics covered, accompanied by Bond film music, for family viewing helped by an interested & excited host Lumley.

     Bond: The South Bank Show ( ITV1, Wed 22:40 )

    This Bond special of the Arts show hosted by Melvyn Bragg opened with a Bond movie montage and used the 007 logo like with QOS in the programme title accompanied by its theme music. The programme started with a brief mixture of Fleming & movie clips ( QOS/GF) using the song Wish I Were James Bond ( also used over ending credits ). Then the first part of the interview with a grinning Melvyn Bragg to every reply from Daniel Craig on a open spotlighted set. Discussed elements of the character showed CR stair fight and compared to 'balletic' FRWL train fight.
    Start of Connery interview who commented Bond had to "look easy and simple" and explained DAF's lift fight followed by clip. Then YOLT poster and GF trailer, comments from Bond Producer Barbara Broccoli seated next to Michael G. Wilson, filming of YOLT opening shots, film set montage to introduce Ken Adam interview followed by his designs for DN & GF ending with DN beach clip.
    A strained voice Connery commenting that he still received stuff as being "sexiest man alive" followed by YOLT sub clip with 007 & Moneypenny. Back to Craig to explain job offer, then CR new tux mirror scene Dame Judi Dench appears to state that Dan is "a cracking good actor" to play Bond like Brosnan, GE scene M and Broz's 007 follows, filming of QOS with her & Craig and the movie's interrogation scene with M questioning Bond's motives. Director Forster discusses Bond with Arterton & Craig filming followed by airport arrival scene. More Craig interview, filming QOS boat chase, CR red button car scene. Writers Purvis & Wade explain developing a "fallible Bond" followed by TWINE's ballon scene/fall and CR's foot chase. More QOS filming with comments from stunt arrange Gary Powell. Judi again commenting that "Fleming's idea is there, a real person .." aided by QOS scene of M meeting Bond in his hotel room. Wilson appears to state that Craig is "suited to his time" as Bond and Broccoli describes he's "very sexy , animal magnetism", then QOS car/lorry tunnel chase. Back to Dan about net protest when getting the role & filming CR, seen arriving at the BAFTAs.
    After 1st break a Fleming b&w montage including his Jamaican interview at Goldeneye, more contributions from Craig, Adam, Broccoli & Wilson who says the first Bond was "strong, tough, decisive", then DN clip, old Saltzman tv interview liking Connery as "the way he moved like a cat" like Albert Finney, Connery movie montage, the actor met Fleming but "a snob .. company good but limited ... surprised to get leading role .. as going to be a series". Bond mania is shown with b&w GF London Premiere footage showing mobbed Honor Blackman who now recalls the broken window and mentions the music, GF car mountain chase clip, composer John Barry explains "set the title first" for GF song and about music for OHMSS that Lazenby is "not Lawrence Olivier here" so OTT music score. Arnold comments on how he scores followed by QOS bike/Ka chase.
    Craig asked about "Cruel Bond ?", replies some earlier 007 movies were "camp and wonderful", illustrated by TSWLM scene of Lotus sub car's sea exit, LALD boat chase and other clips with Adam explaining 'hysterical' Bach on sinking TSWLM scene, b&w photo montage of Bond actors, TND plane clip. Actor Mathieu Amalric comments on villains followed by movie montage and more filming footage.
    The final part opens with a photo shoot promotion for QOS star Olga Kurylenko, GF's Bond/Pussy fight with Blackman claiming her Bond Girl "wasn't a bimbo". Back to Craig's joke filming CR's sea exit followed by clip, Broccoli saying "Bond is a romantic", filming QOS desert scenes, then the cave clip with Camille & James, Barbara on director Campbell's idea to make M a woman, GE scene in M's office with 007, Judi explains "living with Bond women" followed by CR train meeting, Forster need for "British-ness, charm", TB beach scene as more from Connery on humour, Blackman, TND BMW car intro from Q, Dench saying the script has to be "quite funny", her M - "think of Bernard Lee .. copying him!"
    Connery mentions the series ingredients, thinks Craig is cracking - "the danger elements he gets it!", QOS end clips , filming YOLT again, Connery revealing Bob Simmonds in the first few gun barrels which he thinks is funny, A committed Craig to doing 4 Bond movies, trapped in part ? "Too late. Success or failure". Ends with "Bond. James Bond" quote from CR and that song. Overall QOSclips were slightly longer to give chance to develop, otherwise a familiar look at the Bond franchise.

     Quantum Of Solace: Bond On Location ( ITV2, Sat 15:00 )

    This half hour documentary made by Special Treats Productions will turn up on the DVD when released next year and will be shown numerous times on tv. Quantum is most filmed on location to date for a Bond movie so the programme follows the film crew around the world even to shoot 9 months before main shooting a historic horse race. Contributions from Daniel Craig, producers Broccoli & Wilson, director Forster and for the first time it appears a more dominant American crew.

     Film 2008 With Jonathan Ross: Quantum Of Solace Special ( BBC1, Tues 23:25 )

    This 40 minute film programme covers different areas of the new Bond movie ...
    1. Numbers: discussing expected box-office returns, marketing ( including video game trailer clip ) and comments of Bond Producer Michael G Wilson, CR opening b&w clip.
    2. Reviewing: review by host, press release day interviews with Craig, Forster & Kuylenko, QOS clips- tunnel car chase, M chat about Vesper with Bond, Opera House listen-in by Bond, Camille montage, end chase with Greene & Bond.
    3. Pinewood - 1: Ross on set interview with villain actor Mathieu Amalric, QOS clips- Greene plane trip with Felix, Greene trailer montage, discuss end fight and show past FRWL train fight with Red Grant.
    4. Music & Costume: composer David Arnold discussing the evolution of the Bond score and Costume Designer Louise Frogley discussing Dan's look and how trained to shape his body - CR beach scene and QOS clips: Bond dress montage, Ka town chase with bike,
    5. Pinewood - 2: Ross meets director Forster outside with crew, other crew contributions on end set from Production Designer Dennis Gassner shows destruction, explosions by S/Fx Supervisor Chris Corbould are explained, while seated Olga talks about rehearsals for end fight and other stunts. Stunt Coordinator Gary Powell seated in front of rear DBSs explains training the stars and totalling 7 DBSs, meanwhile in Italy 2nd Unit Director Dan Bradley talks about Dan's roof jump with harness. QOS clip - start of bar scene with Leiter & Bond.
    6. Pinewood - 3: Ross ( like with Forster suggests title change of Thunderpussy ! ) meets seated Craig on end set, part CR trailer featuring montage with Eva Green. Dan confirms no smoking for Bond & no regrets taking the part. QOS clips - Bond chatting to Mathis on balcony and end of bar scene with Leiter & Bond.
    The programme ends with an exclusive clip from QOS of 007's tower chase & fight with Richards.

     Quantum Of Solace: Royal World Premiere Special ( ITV2, Sat 14:35 )

    Another half hour special from London's big night split into 2 parts: opening with press day interviews with Craig, Kurylenko & Forster and movie clips. Followed by second half on Leicester Square's stage outside cinema with rear Aston Martin DBS and large screens interviews with Craig, Dench, Kurylenko, Amalric, Arterton, Forster and Broccoli & Wilson with more clips. Flashing shots of arriving stars & Princes William & Harry. It ended with a look at Arnold's score and White's theme song. Introduction & interviews were done by Jenni Falconer of GMTV & Lotto fame.

     Quantum Of Solace: Planning Bond's Downfall And Other Stunts ( ITV1, Thurs 01:30 )

    Yes another half hour documentary made by Special Treats Productions that will turn up on the DVD when released next year and will be shown numerous times on tv. As the title explains the programme looks at planning for the numerous stunts in the new movie. After an introduction from producers Broccoli and Wilson, a short QOS action montage director Forster explains the importance of planning each stunt including Panama search, Craig explains his working relationship, so taken back to October 2007 to Pinewood Studios to see Craig rehearsing the rope fight with the stunt team. Production designer Gassner explains the big set. Dan moves to Dunsfold Test Track in Surrey to improve his driving skills and then shown practicing in boats elsewhere. At the end of December Olga Kurylenko is casted and comes to Pinewood for fight practice along with baddie Mathieu Amalric. Move to another location for Dan & Olga to practice the Bodyflight sky diving simulator at speeds of 180 to 190 mph. Next to Panama to see the duo filming the boat chase sequence.
    The second part opens in Lake Garda, Italy for the opening car chase using 7 Aston Martins & 8 Alpha Romeos. Rally driver Mark Higgins is among the stunt team. More fighting scenes and the sound effects are explained. Move to Senna for the roof top chase followed by Arnold explaining how this is scored along with the opening interrogation scene. His keyboard version is later seen orchestrated. Back at Pinewood for the final showdown with fire and explosions explained by SFX supervisor Corbould who is seen practicing with types of explosives including how to kill off henchman Elvis. A final wish for the cinema goer from Dan. The programme ends with the fire set scenes allowing escape for Dan & Olga. Another interesting insight to a Bond movie production.
