A Tale Of Two Berries

What a dress!

What a knock-out former Bond girl Halle Berry looked at the premiere of X-Men Orgins: Wolverine, as commented on The Sun's entertainment page "she isn't even in" the movie ! With appropriate caption of WOLV WHISTLE the DAD star is seen "stealing the show at its Los Angeles" screening. Shame they had to type all over her "skin-tight frock" ! ( 30/04 ).

Memories, oh those mamories...!

The following day at the bottom of Friday columnist Jon Gaunt's page is her sea exiting photo from the Bond movie with photo caption of PITY ABOUT THE HAIR, EH ... as his assistant, Young Phil thought Halle "looked better at the Wolverine film premiere this week than when she was in the James Bond movie." Jon remarked "What, even better than when she emerged from the sea in that bikini ?" and Phil replied "Yes, I didn't like her hair !" I share Mr Gaunt's concerns "Her Hair? Who the hell was looking at her hair?" and he ends "Young people - I'll never understand them." You're not the only one Jon ! ( 01/05 ).

James Bond News: Miscellaneous

  1. Noticed the following Bond related items in The Sun ...

    1. Rob's back !
    2. Missed from the paper's tv mag on the Gossip page is photo of GE/TWINE actor Robbie Coltrane better known on tv for his excellent Cracker in the shhh..INSIDER section. It mentons he "is solving crimes again in his new drama, Murderland. Robbie plays a cop hunting a young mum's killer." It ends to reveal filming starts in June, just hope Robbie doesn't have to chase after any baddies ( 25/04 ).

    3. Short cut & friend
    4. A paper & half titled the FROG princes is given to a new online video for The Prince's Rainforests Project which is opened by cropped hair & Bond star Daniel Craig and described as an "actor, optimist". The video is to highlight "the urgent need to save the world's rainforests." Each contributor is joined by a green Argentine horned frog ( known as a Pacman frog ) until he is finally seen next to a more famous one, Kermit. The project is set up by The Prince of Wales who is seen along with his two sons William & Harry, other stars include Harrison Ford & Robin Williams ( 06/05 ).
    5. Nearly missed the paragraph titled BOND VILLAIN that told of "A postie [postman - who] was stopped from changing his name to James Bond - in case he used it as a CRIME alias in Radomsko, Poland." Hey 007 gone bad, never ! ( 29/05 ).
  2. Not a buyer of Sunday newspapers but following a Chelsea Cup Final win and a James Bond photo special offer, I purchased The Sunday Times, which is a mountain of papers/magazines to read. Apart from the For your eyes only photo section, I spotted the following ...
    Half a Devil
    1. The right advert in one of their magazines from booksellers WHSmith, it shows their choice of Book Of The Week - Sebastian Faulks' paperback version of his Devil May Care selling at half price with a review quote of "Vintage Bond. Thrilling." -The Times. Notice a new lady in red outfit for the cover.

    2. Jump Dan
    3. The business section includes a photo of Dan's rooftop chase from QOS with heading of Pinewood gunning for Hollywood role and opens "the home of James Bond and Harry Potter films will lay out plans to double in size and challenge Hollywood ... Pinewood Studios is submitting its final planning application for a 100-acre, £200m expansion.." All very well but the photo caption reads "Pinewood magic has created Bond movies such as QOS". Slightly wrong choice of photo as we all know Dan is seen on location filming in Siena, Italy !

    4. Ouch Dan
    5. The motoring section has this VIZ TOP TIP as it tells "Now listen carefully, Bond ... James Bond: never show pain when receiving the beating of a lifetime, but wince when having your wounds tended by a woman." It shows cartoonish Dan with plaster on his face and probably referring to his CR recuperation ( 31/05 ).
  3. BIRTHDAYS:
    May 01: Bond girl Joanna Lumley ( 63 ) & May 16: Pierce Brosnan ( 56 ).
  4. REMEMBRANCE:
May 28 1908: Author Ian Fleming.
  5. Bond Cast/Related TV Spots:

    1. Former Bond girl Joanna Lumley was the final chat guest on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross ( BBC-1, Fri 22:35 ) due to her successful campaign to allow wartime Ghurkas to live in the UK. When discussing her career the host missed out on her brief OHMSS appearance ( 29/05 ).
