A Scary Knight
Like most papers The Sun went down the Dracula pun route for Bond baddie Christopher Lee when he received his knighthood from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace in London. It's a shame that an actor with so many roles including Scaramanga in Moore's TMWTGG had to wait so long in life !
The item titled Arise Sir Dracula mentions that "the legendary vampire actor, 87, has been in more than 250 films and TV productions" Looks like he has something else in common with 007 actor Moore now, if you remember that dining scene, poor Britt must feel left out ! ( 31/10 ).
James Bond News: Miscellaneous
- Noticed the following Bond related items in The Sun ...
- Catch-up 1:
The Friday Motoring section claim that "the finished version of the £1.2million Aston martin One-77 has made its debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza on the shores of Lake Como ( think CR/QOS ) in Italy - and instantly won first prize, the event's Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes." For the motor buffs it "has a 7.3-litre V12 engine which produces 700bhp, does 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 200mph." Alas "all 77 cars in the limited production run have already been sold" aah shame ! ( 01/05 ).
- Catch-up 2:
A series of light bulb jokes ran thought out the paper titled LIGHT HEARTED and this one maybe of interest:
Q. How many James Bond fans does it take to change a light bulb ?
A. One - and ten to say the original was the best.
Nice to be popular eh ( 02/09 ).
- Catch-up 3:
The entertainment page has a photo of Bond star Daniel Craig who "shamelessly paraded his 'tache-too-far - not to mention his Harry Potter specs - while out and about in New York". The writer is disappointed as he thought that the actor "was a bit of a dapper gent". Hey Dan you can't win all the time ! ( 04/09 ).
- Catch-up 4:
Blink and you miss a SUN SPOT paragraph revealing "Oscar winning Bond girl Halle Berry, 43, is reportedly expecting her second baby with model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, 33, after using IVF." Best wishes to the couple if true ( 04/09 ).
- Catch-up 5:
Nice to see former Bond girl Teri Hatcher, 44 , in good shape as a "Triathlon hopeful .. [who] will run, swim and cycle on Saturday for a charity in Malibu, California." The photo item is titled Desperately fit housewife with reference to her tv role not her role in TND in which case it may have been titled Tomorrow Never Runs, Swim ... ( 08/09 ).
- Meanwhile a three small paragraph item titled HE'S NO MORE tells of "actor Joseph Wiseman who played the first James Bond villain Dr No has died aged 91. .. later said "I thought it might be just another grade-B Charlie Chan mystery." [Shame that] daughter Martha said the stage actor ended up viewing the role with "great disdain" and "was horrified because that's what he's remembered for". Canadian Wiseman died in New York after a long illness." He was a man who created an iconic screen villain, condolences to his family ( 22/10 ).
- A small item titled Asto be record reports that "a 1950 [before I was born !] Aston Martin has sold for £550,000 at auction - a record for the DB2 model. A mystery British businessman brought the car at Sotherby's in London". So James hold on to your DB5 and anyone else who has one ! (30/10 ).
