Watch Pierce ... like the small item in the Entertainment column of News of the World's Claudia Connell. She reported that ...
BIG-HEARTED Bond star Pierce Brosnan was so moved when he heard the photographer taking his picture for an ad campaign was celebrating a birthday,
he gave him his £1,500 watch.
Claudia ended reminding Pierce that her birthday is in March ( ... mine on 22 October ) but if she had looked in her paper's Sunday magazine and seen the photo ( right ) of Brosnan,
she would have noticed that Pierce is wearing 2 watches !
That's one for you ...

M's duty ... The Sun reports under heading of Judi dash to be with sick hubby that Dame Judi M Dench "was at her husband's bedside last night after pulling out of a New York show when he was stuck down by pleurisy... actor Michael Williams, 63, was taken to hospital with inflammation of the lungs". A speedy recovery is wished by all.

Vantage Pierce ... following March's item about 007's new BMW Z8 roadster,
The Sun's Ken Gibson "exclusively reveal 007 star Pierce Brosnan has ordered a test drive of the new British-built Aston DB7 Vantage ... if Brosnan likes the performance .. then the £92,000 super car will be on its way to his American home ".In his MOTORS SAYS section Gibson echoes my & Bond fans' views ...
"EVERYONE, apart from the Bond film-makers and BMW, knows 007 should drive an Aston Martin.
007 is the archetypal Englishman and he should drive a thoroughly British car.
The new Aston Martin DB7 Vantage has everything a Bond car needs -
performance, looks and bags of class.
Until Bond is given his Aston Martin back he will be a super spy with a fatal flaw ... the wrong car."
P.S. To Aston Martin if Pierce needs any help I still available for that test drive.

The price of fame ... I always thought a lady's diary was private but today's The News Of The World devotes a centre page & a half to a past love of Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. Under a heading of I TAUGHT BROKEN HEARTED BOND TO LOVE AGAIN, diary extracts from "besotted Mateja Span"' are published.
The article reveals Pierce "met Mateja just months after his beloved Cassandra had died of cancer" at the time of filming Death Train in her "hometown of Ljubljana in Slovenia".
Two relaxing photos of Pierce & Mateja are seen as well as one of Pierce dressed in white bathrobe, speaking on the phone, on a hotel bed.
Above the latter is a photo of a smiling Mateja in Bond-girl pose with pointing gun.
I believe what happened 7 & 5 years ago between them should remain PRIVATE.

A View To A Prince... The Sun have centre pages of a photo gallery of HRH Prince Charles & the stars.
Two of the photos ( seen below ) feature Bond stars, Pierce with partner Keely at the recent Versace charity bash and Roger in the line-up at last October's Gala Show.

Another one for 'M' ... adding to her Oscar & BAFTA successes, Dame Judi M Dench scooped another award at The Tonys in New York last night. Dame Judi ( seen right with Julie Andrews ) won "her first Tony for her widely acclaimed stage role as the embattled actress in David Hare's Amy View" writes Barbara McMahon of London's Evening Standard. "Before thanking New York for her welcome on Broadway ", she told the reporter ...
"The winning bit is not the best bit, the nominating bit is the best bit".

Orderly now 007 ... ITV started their James Bond Season tonight and for the first time on British tv the movies are to be shown categorically and weekly. The movies plug the gap left by Euro football on Wednesday nights and 007's only other tv opposition appears to be ER on Channel 4. Having missed most of the run up promotion for Double O Heaven, the season started with Dr. No and after my criticism in March when GoldenEye was shown full screen, these movies are being shown in 'tv letterbox' for wide screen tv purposes. This is not as extreme as 'video letterbox' but at least it gives the viewer the chance to see more of the action. The screening opened with a short sponsorship commercial "The James Bond Season in association with ... MARTINI" ( yes 007's little tipple without the vodka makers ) and an out of focus mermaid swimming in different bending positions. The movie then began with United Artists' latest captions not the one used in the Sixties. Each interval break had a caption of the 5 Bonds with a centred movie title. At the end a promotion for next week's showing of From Russia With Love with emphasis on "an old friend" and Desmond Llewelyn's debut as Q. I'm going to find out if this Bond season is to be scheduled on the same night for the next 17 or 18 weeks ( not sure if TND is included ) as this no doubt will run into ITV's exclusive football coverage of the Champions League in September.
It looks like I'm going to be busy with my ITV page and Bond movie reviews.
Steve's Update 27/06/99 ...
having now established the season will include TND for its first terrestrial UK tv screening. Following yesterday double showing of the awful Casino Royale and the 6th film O.H.M.S.S., the screenings will switch revert back to Wednesdays with next week's Diamonds Are Forever followed a week later by Live And Let Die.
