Welcome to the website of Quorn Lawn Tennis Club, the friendly club in Quorn - a village in the heart of Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire - that caters for players of all ages and abilities.

the weather forecast for Quorn (courtesy accuweather.com)
or for Loughborough (courtesy bbc.co.uk) - both of these open in a new window.

Forthcoming events

Club nights are held Wednesdays from 5.00pm and Fridays from 5.15pm for senior and intermediate members, during the season (April-September).   If you are thinking of joining our Club, do come down on one of these evenings and introduce yourself - or better still bring your kit and have a (free) game! We have had a pleasing number of new members join us this season; do you want to join too?

Sunday 14th August 2011 at 2.00pm: BBQ tournament for Club members. More details to follow.

The Courts are reserved for Junior Coaching (during term time) on:
Mondays 4.00-6.00pm
Tuesdays 4.15-5.15pm
Thursdays 4.30-6.00pm

Courts are also not available for general play on the few evenings when there are home matches for the women's or men's teams. Please see the notice board in the Club House for the relevant dates.

Facilities

We have four, outdoor, shale courts that are regularly maintained by a professional groundsman.  This court surface is particularly good for the knees and close line calls!   There is also a newly-refurbished Club House which hosts a number of Club activities throughout the season and has changing and showering facilities.   The Club adjoins a pub, which is handy after strenuous exertions on sunny Club Nights.

Tennis & coaching for all ages
Our membership ranges from young children in our Junior sections (from 6-14 years old), Intermediates (15-18 years old) and Adults (some of whom are in their 80's!).   We all enjoy the fun of developing our tennis in friendly competition and good camaraderie in a pleasant countryside location.

We use local licensed coaches from Inside Out Tennis who provide coaching for any member wanting/needing it.  So, if you are not sure about your standard of play, our coaches are ready to freshen up your game!
Click on this link for more information about their coaching (http://www.insideouttennis.com/coaching.html)
and on this link for their payment form for QLTC members (http://www.insideouttennis.com/formpayquorn.html).
You can also contact our coaches by email at quornclub@insideouttennis.com

Junior practice sessions take place each week under the supervision of an adult.   Out of season, some Club members arrange between themselves to continue playing on indoor courts at nearby Loughborough University.

Club nights

The Club Nights are the heart of our Club and take place on Wednesday and Friday nights (from about 5.00 p.m. till dusk) throughout the season.   You don't have to book, you just have to come along.   Play is mainly centred around mixed-doubles but varies according to the availability of players and courts.  Play rotates, so you are always sure of getting a game (and a drink).

Club tournaments
Club members arrange a variety of tournaments for themselves on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the season.   These are usually associated with some after-tournament functions such as a barbecue, a cheese and wine party or a tea party, which family members can join (see below).   In addition, we usually hold an annual black-tie dinner dance or barn dance and a pre-season party.   Since we are affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association, QLTC members also have access to tickets for Wimbledon through the Club allocation and British Tennis Membership.

If you are into match play, we also field various teams and tournaments including matches for juniors and intermediates.

Club Tournament dates for the 2011 season:

Sunday 15th May 2011 2.00pm Opening High Tea Tournament
Sunday 19th June 2011 2.00pm Strawberries & Pimms Tournament
Sunday 10th July 2011 2.00pm Kebabs & Sangria Tournament
