EMAIL: milco2002@hotmail.com NAME: Malcolm Findlay TOPIC: This Is Not A CHEckered Plane (Pseudo-IRTC) COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: TINA CheP's evolution COUNTRY: Scotland WEBPAGE: RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray version 3.6 TOOLS USED: To convert to jpeg format photoshop was used RENDER TIME: 3 minutes 59 seconds (yep that is all, however note the simplicity of the grass!) HARDWARE USED: Sony laptop - processor 1.73GHz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The image plays on the theme of TINA CheP in the essence of how the character now known as Tina Chep has come to be from the simple cliche of the shiny ball over the checkered plane. This image also subtly depicts how a povers ability grows from the simple ball on the checkered plane through to the complex manikin with grass and clouds thrown in for good measure. Observant people will notice the three elipses (black dots) at the end of the evolution, this is partly as I didn't want to define what Tina Chep should look like and also I havent succesfully produced a smooth human character as yet. Also please don't get angry that I have used a checkered plane as the idea is how we have moved on from that to better things. Hope you like the concept. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The image is fairly simple although a few details should be clarified. -The manikin is a model I produced a while ago and is all simple CSG. Nothing too special there except the product of many hours. -The plane transition is done using a series of boxes where the black squares of the checker get progressively lighter until they eventually become white and then a white plane starts. -The clouds are a texture map onto a box in the backgorund. This was firstly for simplicty and secondly to allow them to appear in only part of the sky. -The grass as i said is simple as it is just a set of sphere sweeps defined by two points. This seemed good enough given the scale it is viewed at and the fact I needed a fast render this time. It also is not the focus of the picture so i neglected it somewhat. If there is anything else please ask.
