EMAIL: bruno_cabasson@yahoo.fr NAME: Bruno CABASSON TOPIC: TINA CHep COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: povlab COUNTRY: France WEBPAGE: RENDERER USED: POVRAY 3.61 TOOLS USED: RENDER TIME: > 1 day HARDWARE USED: Athlon XP3000+ IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Poor POVer who tries to make a checkered plane ... in vain. In his lab, he has lots of objects, but no checkered plane. He bought a brand new POVOTRON 6000 (alpha version, still chaotic), and a POV encyclopedia, and all he could do is a flower pot. Let's have mercy on him, and have a special thought for the portrait on the wall ... The book is entitled "POV for junks, chapter 14 Checkered Planes", but does not show correctly. Needs better resolution and lighting tweaks. The room is on the ground. I wish I had time to make a landscape where to put it on (a peak for instance), and to make a cloudscape and a sunset... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I collected some objects I make and modeled new ones (armchair, fire place, cask, window, povotron ...). Walls are isosurfaces, fireplace is differenced blobs, cask is based on differenced spheres rusty pilars are also isosurfaces, lightsabers were make last year for my 2 daughters, paintings on walls are pictures of my own, dome arches are isosurfaces. I used radiosity and media (--> looooooong render time). I could not make radiosity settings as precise as I wanted, due to render time (I finished the POVOTRON yesterday!), and there is some ugly splotchiness everywhere! Shame on me.... This scene is intended to be rendered at 1280*1024, but the IRTC rules say 800*600max... Bruno.
