This will take you direct to our reservation enquiry, and this to a description of each of our six flats.

No matter how much they charge, hotels can often be little more than glorified bedsits. In Glasgow city centre, between London Road and Glasgow Green and close by the Merchant City (click here for a Google Map), there is an alternative, now in its twentieth year - your private pied-à-terre apartment at Number 52 Charlotte Street providing hospitality to tourists and business people from around the world.

Our prices are highly competitive in comparison to those charged by hotels of at least equal quality, and we make no extra charge for housekeeping, electricity, linen or parking.

Originally designed by Robert Adam in 1790 and 200 years later restored and divided into six self-contained flats by the National Trust for Scotland, Number 52 Charlotte Street has been owned and operated by Simon Leslie-Carter since 1989. Here, you can ease yourself into an unhurried world of Georgian comfort, while we combine the service and comfort of a hotel suite with all the independence which your private apartment can give you.

At Number 52 Charlotte Street you can live (and work) at your own pace, come and go as you please, and enjoy the space and independence of a real home from home.

This is how the six flats are configured -

Flats 01 and 02 (ground floor) Flat 11 (first floor) each one bedroom (double or twin), bathroom, kitchen and sitting/ dining room
Flat 12 (first floor) 2 bedrooms (the large with a double or twin beds, the small with a single bed or pair of full size bunk beds), bathroom kitchen and sitting/dining room.
Flats 21 and 22(second floor) each one bedroom (a double or twin beds), bathroom and sitting/dining room with open plan kitchen.

An extra single bed or guest bed can be set up in sitting/dining rooms, except in Flat 12. If you wish to rent just the one flat but retain privacy, in Flats 01, 02 or 11 we can easily convert the bedroom and the sitting/dining room to provide two separate bed/sitting rooms, while sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities.

We also have cots and high chairs for young children, who are very welcome.

Each flat is fully furnished, in period style. Original features like the painted pitch pine window shutters and the doors, fireplaces and the ceiling rose in the main, stone-tiled, hallway have been restored and retained. Free wi-fi internet access, Freeview television and a DVD player, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, bath and shower, individually controlled electric heating and entry phone security are just a few of the 20th century concessions to Georgian elegance to be found in all of our flats.

We no longer provide a direct dial telephone in the flats, but can provide a mobile/cell phone on free loan.

We do not serve meals (although we provide a welcome pack of tea, coffee, fresh milk and fruit, or can buy in your groceries for your arrival) but each kitchen is fully equipped to provide anything from a snack to a full meal and there are many excellent and varied restaurants and café/bars within a short walk.

Marks & Spencer have their largest food hall in UK just 5 minutes walk away, with a Tesco Express supermarket open 7 days from 0600 to 2300 in the next block.

Your housekeepers, May Adams and Ellen Baillie, are on duty every day (except Christmas Day and New Year's Day) to service your flat, including bed making, regular linen change, washing-up, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning and rubbish removal.

We are happy to arrange for a baby sitting/child watching service and a secretarial service including fax and Email.

We can arrange car rental for you, and we have our own free, off-street parking behind our building, but unless you are proposing to make frequent trips into the countryside (and Glasgow is an excellent base from which to visit Edinburgh and all parts of South, West and Central Scotland), you will probably find it unnecessary to have your own transport. Public transport in and around the city - bus, taxi, train or underground - is efficient, frequent, inexpensive and close: at Charlotte Street you are within a few minutes walk of bus routes, cab ranks and train stations.
