COMMANDING

NO. 609 (WEST RIDING) SQUADRON, AUXILIARY AIR FORCE. YEADON. YORKSHIRE.

 

1. The following Aircraft and Pilots will proceed to RAF Station Church Fenton on Sunday June 25th, 1939, to carry out Air to Ground Camera Gun Exercises, leaving RAF Station, Yeadon at 0930 hours.

2. These Aircraft will leave Base and arrive at Church Fenton in formations as per index letters.

Aircraft No. L.7232, will proceed independently.

 

3.Flying Officer D. Persse-Joynt will command and lead the formation Flights and will be responsible for re-fuelling arrangements and for discipline until the completion of the Exercises. He will also be responsible for receiving the flying times of all Aircraft.

 

4. On arrival at RAF Station, Church Fenton all Pilots will report to Flying Officer R.L. Henstock, No. 72 Squadron for further instructions. He will be in charge of the Exercises and instruction of Attacks. He will also be responsible for determining the time of cessation of the Attacks.

 

5. P/O. Edge will be responsible for procuring and taking to Church Fenton, 12 Camera Gun Films.

 

6. AC. Raines will be responsible for the maintenance and re-loading of Camera Guns.

 

7. Formation Flying at Church Fenton will take place between Camera Gun Exercises as detailed by Flying Officer Persse Joynt.

 

8. Aircraft No. K.6845 is to be fully equipped and available as Stand-by machine for the movement.

 

9. Crossley 3 Ton Vehicle will proceed to RAF Station, Church Fenton leaving RAF Station, Yeadon, at 0900 hours. This vehicle will convey a Regular Fitter and Rigger together with Aircraft tools and spares as detailed by Warrant Officer Harvey.
