For once the weather forecast was right - they said rain in the evening and that's what we got - With 13 Karts on the grid (some competitors put off by the threat of rain) Mike Thoms in the number 46 GKD kart made a clean getaway from Pole from his team mate Dave Shaw in GKD 66, both taking advantage of the clearer track ahead to make an immediate break away from the rest of the pack. Meanwhile at the back of the pack on the first lap John Gorton in Wait For Me spun exiting Lunar fortunately being avoided by the karts of TRBitz and Motrade. As the leaders eased away there were some good scraps  including the one between RPS and Balmforth Transport.

As Dan in the Blue Bike Bubble kart settled into 3rd spot in pursuit of the GKD boys others were already in trouble including the lads from UCLAN (University of Central Lancs.) who were struggling back in the paddock area until helped out by Howard Lucas of Lucas Racing. Meanwhile GKD46 was gradually extending his lead as a usual front runner Ian in Demon Rouge was struggling with engines affected by the volume of water forcing him pull up in front of the pits to obtain some WD40.

Others were having other misfortunes with Chris Petch in  Petchrol Heads having the unfortunate occasion to spin in front of the camera lens - let you guess where he spun?

With the race coming to a close it looked like GKD46 had an advantage of about 30 seconds from GKD66 who had taken the lead but had a fuel stop yet to come - leaving it as late as possible to try and get a bit of time back, meanwhile Motrade had driven steadily to fourth despite Pete having felt something hit him on the back!!! he thought a chain had gone but the kart kept going so he drove it to the flag - once in the pits they discovered half the brake disc was missing  - WHO needs BRAKES. Back in the pit lane Dave Shaw made his last gasp fuel stop and much to everyone's amazement he was 50yds ahead of GKD66!! who was closing in at a second a lap with only 4 minutes to go.At the flag there  was only 1.52 seconds in it with Blue Bike Bubble in third just a further 8seconds adrift - somehow Mike Thoms had lost 30 seconds in the pit stop - Did he stop for coffee! - Definitely no team orders in that team. Once again great clean racing from everyone in some awful conditions - roll on the Sunshine.
