INFORMATION ON INTENSIVE/RESIDENTIAL COURSES

A full Intensive course can greatly reduce the time it traditionally takes to Pass the Driving Test, where the lessons are spread over weeks or months. On our full Intensive courses we will be out for around  6 hours each full day and 2 hours on the Test day.. There are comfort breaks and a guaranteed minimum of 5 hours behind the wheel on each of the full days. These courses are very demanding. Think carefully before committing yourself to one of these courses. You must be able to work under pressure and remain alert.

A semi-intensive course may be the way to go if you feel a full intensive is too much. These consist of a minimum 90 minutes each day over a period of 5-6 weeks. During this period you need to take and pass the Theory Test as soon as possible so a Driving Test date can be booked.

All Tuition at ABACUS School of Motoring is done on a ONE TO ONE Basis (i.e. No Car Sharing) which means that when you book a 20 hour course you get the FULL 20 hours to yourself

Many Residential courses you'll see advertised, are based on SHARED Tuition. At first sight the lower fees look attractive. If you take a 20 hours course of shared tuition, when you take into account you are only driving for half of the time and sat bored in the back watching someone else (or sleeping) for the remainder, you may well ask if you're getting value for money.

Course Prices include the cost of the Driving Test, and the cost of Bed & Breakfast on our Residential Courses. Comfort breaks do not get counted in the Hours you pay for.

IMPORTANT !

In choosing your course please ensure you are taking sufficient hours.

The DSA statistics suggest that the average number of hours taken by successful candidates of the Driving Test is 40. Our shorter Intensive courses work particularly well if you have had some previous driving experience. Beginners with little or no experience should consider one of the longer courses. In the interest of Public Safety use of the driving school car may be withheld if you have not reached Test Standard at the end of the course.

A  Residential course means you can take a break from your daily routine and put all your effort into learning the skills necessary to Pass your Driving Test.  We can arrange suitable Bed & Breakfast accommodation and arrange to pick you up and drop you off there each day, or you may prefer to make your own arrangements. You may bring a friend or partner with you if you wish. Please add £20 per night for extra nights or for anyone accompanying you.

You will need to have passed your Theory Test before you can apply for a Driving Test. To enable us to book your Test and reserve a place on your course, we will require a Deposit of £75 (non-refundable), your Provisional Driving Licence No., the date you passed the Theory Test and your Theory Certificate Number. A date convenient to both of us will be agreed in advance. The balance is payable on the first day of the course.

To Book one of our Courses, or if you have further queries, please ring on 01995 670504, so we can discuss suitable dates, (leave a message if no one is in and I'll return the call asap).

You can be assured of a warm welcome and quality training, with probably the most progressive independent Driving School in the area. Very nervous pupils may benefit from a short Hypnotherapy session, which can be arranged prior to the Driving Test (additional cost applies).
