AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2007
Welcome to our autumn newsletter. The summer (what summer you may ask!!) seems to be at an end and we can look forward to all the embroidery shows with their wonderful ideas and goodies and more time to spend on stitching.
As usual we will have a stand at the Knitting and Stitching shows at the NEC, Birmingham (13 th – 16 th September), Alexandra Palace , London (11 th – 14 th October) and International Halls, Harrogate . (22 nd – 25 th November). Do come along and have a chat and see all our latest kits. It's great to put a face to a name and even see your completed projects!!
I will be offering some Practical Projects classes at the NEC – 3.30 p.m. every day and Alexandra Palace on the Thursday and Friday, 11 th and 12 th at 10.30 a.m. We will be working on a project called “Fruit Sundae” (so called because of the colours - bright pinks and delicate aquas combined with gold thread and leather – not the subject!). Why not come along and have a go? It is amazing what you can do in an hour!!
We have just added three new kits to our range. These are designs based on roses, Tudor Rose, Briar Rose and Glasgow Rose. They are our first kits to be embroidered on traditional cream silk dupion and look wonderful either on their own or as collection of two or three. They would make wonderful gifts, either as kits or embroidered for weddings, anniversaries and birthdays – not to mention Christmas!! There is a photograph of me (my hands actually!) working on the Briar Rose design in the Knitting and Stitching show brochure.
Another recent addition to our range is Art Nouveau I, an abstract design using a variety of goldwork threads on a vivid velvet background – a modern twist to a traditional technique.
The latest additions to our range of kits combining canvaswork and goldwork are a needle case and scissor keeper, available in the Summer Garden and Blue Lagoon colourways and two beautiful small bags, also available in both colourways. They include everything you need to complete these constructed projects.
This may be your last opportunity to buy leather squares in the Orange Foil and the Fuschia Pink colourways as our French suppliers are discontinuing these particular colours. So once our remaining squares are gone that will be it. They tell me that they will be discontinuing the Aqua Foil (my favourite colour) in the near future – so order now while you can. We will be looking to add new colours to our range as and when they become available, but these will be metallics (less shiny) rather than foils (very difficult to manufacture apparently)
As I write this (well before and after actually - and there is always the ironing!), I am working on two new designs (one on gold canvas and the other using layers of sheers and velvet combined with gold leather and threads), with plans also for a larger and more complicated design to stretch the more experienced embroiderer
