Criminal Record Check

Please note: All volunteers will be subject to Criminal Record Check [organised & paid for by Age Concern Cowplain]

Full details of CRB can be found here www.crb.gov.uk with excerpts here

Here is a brief summary about CRB, for full details see www.crb.gov.uk

If you are going to work as a volunteer for an organisation and your work will bring you into contact with vulnerable adults, you may be asked to apply for a CRB check

If you have been asked to apply for a CRB check you will need to speak to the person who asked you to apply as they will be able to provide you with the application form

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), an Executive Agency of the Home Office, provides wider access to criminal record information through its Disclosure service. This service enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that involve children or vulnerable adults

Organisations wishing to use the service can ask successful job applicants to apply for one of two types of check. The type of check required will depend upon the nature of the position. These are called Enhanced and Standard Disclosures, both require a fee but are free of charge to volunteers
