SERVICES AT ST MARY’S

As this is written the 'Back to Church Sunday' will have taken place at Acton. People will have been invited to join us for the Harvest Festival .

We hope that all who attended enjoyed the occasion and will join us for some of our other services at St Mary’s. All our regular services have a very different feel and folk may find one of them more to their liking.

8.00 am Communion is usually held on alternate Sundays. The congregation sit in the choir stalls. Whether in the winter mornings, when the rest of the world is still asleep, or in the spring and summer as dawn is breaking and the only background noise is birdsong, the service has a very peaceful and devotional atmosphere, with time for quiet contemplation and prayer. The service is spoken, no music is played and the priest gives a short address.

The 11.00 service can be either All Age Worship, Eucharist, Morning Prayer or Baptism. During Morning Prayer and Eucharist 'Sunday Club' takes place in the Vestry. Ages range at these services from tiny babies to 90 years plus. The services have a livelier feel, new hymns are often tried, accompanied by organ, piano or our Music Group. Refreshments are always served afterwards.

The 6.30 service takes the form of Eucharist or Evening Prayer with Sermon and is a quieter occasion, with a more traditional congregation. Hymns are always accompanied by the organ.

Wednesday Morning Communion at 10.15 am is a very friendly, sociable service. It is held in the Lady Chapel and the hymns ,which are usually traditional , are chosen by the congregation and accompanied by piano. Morning coffee is always served.

Everyone is always welcome to join us at any of our services.
