Our genial host trying to impress.

David by many hours of exercise and diet has managed to maintain a youthful mid fifties stature whilst in fact being close to an octogenarian. He started playing guitar as a twelve year old with interest in the popular music of the day and an unhealthy love of blues in the style of Robert Johnson. He now plays contemporary and traditional music in many different genres on both guitar and mandolin to an exceptional standard.

Some twenty years ago, Eric Jackson and Rob Clayton started the Droylsden folk club, initially at the Railway Inn. Four years later, David and the late John Green took over the club and subsequently  moved it to the Bush Inn at nearby Moorside St. where it has thrived for the past nine years.

The Droylsden folk festival has throughout this time centred around local pubs and is a recognised event for both local musicians, singers and of course the more famous nationally recognised performers.
