Feb 17th, 2002. Adam's Update email - Feb 2002.

Feb 11th, 2002. Styles & May win the Vilamoura International Carnival Regatta, in Portugal.

In an incredible light wind series, Team Styles and May managed to win the regatta without winning a race, although they lead at every windward mark. Racing was generally undertaken in 3-6 knots of breeze!

2nd October, 2001 - Team Styles & May move up to 2nd overall in ISAF World Sailing Rankings. [www.sailing.org]

September, 2001 - Blue Peter badges for Hugh & Adam! Blue Peter undertook a small team racing event at the Southampton boat show, featuring top youth sailors and Olympians. Adam steered one of the WCP boats while Hugh did the onshore commentary.

Airbus UK to continue support of Team Styles & May.

1720 European Championships - Hugh won the Europeans recently calling tactics for Ben Ainsle.

UK National Championships - May and Hutchinson win the National title. Adam took the helm for the UK Nationals with tuning partner from the Olympics Joe Hutchinson crewing. 

August 2001 - European Championships, Lake Silvaplana, Switzerland. Styles & May finish 2nd Overall.    

Airbus UK Friends & Families Day - 35,000 people visited the Airbus UK site in Filton, Bristol on Saturday the 23rd June, for an Air Display and a rare chance to look around the site. Along with the aircraft on display were a variety of different stands and stalls. One of which was our boat from the Olympics, on show in one of the main hangers. Our boats have now done more public appearances than we have!

May 23rd - 27th - We had a solid result in Medemblik recently, finishing third overall in the 2001 SPA regatta.

May 1st - Styles & May move up to third in the ISAF World Ranking list. Ranked number 1 is the Gold Medallist from Sydney - Roman Hagara, and second is Darren Bundock, the Silver medallist from Sydney.

March 17th-18th - Training in the new rig boat continued over the weekend, refining boat handling techniques and our boat layout. 

The 49er vs Tornado challenge was finally answered as we went up against Chris Draper in his 49er, and it was a convincing win for the Tornado! Higher and faster upwind, and a similiar angle downwind but faster confirms the Tornado status as the fastest Olympic class.

March 10th-11th - The crew of Barlo Plastics win the IC45 Clean Marine Winter Series in Palma. Hugh was onboard again trimming having had to miss the last event because of the Tornado Worlds.

March 4th - Our newly rigged Tornado hit the water. We re-launched our training boat on Sunday with a spinnaker, bigger mainsail, twin trapeze and a higher aspect ratio jib. Check out some photos. 

March 3rd - Multihull talk by Hugh at Sailboat & Windsurf 2001 in the central feature.

March 1st - New Tornado rules in effect. Spinnaker, twin trapeze, bigger mainsail, and a high aspect ratio jib are now able to be used! Check out the Tornado class website for full details: www.tornado.tc 

Feb 20th - Team Styles and May are to back a new scheme implemented by the RYA to source future generations of youth and Olympic class multihull campaigners from clubs around Great Britain. The RYA Catamaran Programme aims to allow talented (both up and coming and established) youth sailors to consider multihull sailing instead of just the traditional monohull options. Feb 19th - Returned from South Africa. Back to work for Adam, and Hugh started work on converting the second boat to the new rules.

Feb 18th - Styles and May finish 3rd overall in World Championships.

November - British Olympic Team attend reception at Buckingham palace and meet the Queen. 

November 13th - Adam starts work at BAE Systems - Airbus UK. Working in the wind tunnel, on the Airbus A380. Hugh does not return to work - deciding to run the campaign full-time and go sailing. He is currently trimming for Adrian Stead on the Coral 45 with the British Admirals Cup team.

October - Styles & May crew for Richard Sydenham in National Match racing championships, getting through to the final and coming 2nd overall.
