In a conversation with GMC he thought that his Great Great Great Grandfather came from Radstock, but moved to Winterbourne. His grandfather was an engineer in charge of the mine at Coalpit Heath (nearby), his father may have fallen out and moved to Liverpool ( Bootle/Sandhills ) before his firm was move to Birkenhead. He remembers Deveraux Drive, Seacombe (was there on 14th June 1907 aged 4 months) and The Grove, Poulton. One of his earlier memories was of his sister, Kathleen, threatening to 'pull the chain' whilst he was on the toilet! He could have been no more than 4 years old at the time. He became Chief Electrical Engineer at Stothert and Pitt and invented improvements to Electro-magnitic brakes used in cranes, patent GB 541310
