Don't hide it

Don't hide it will reach millions of 11 - 16 year olds over the next six weeks through teen magazines, online web sites, radio programmes and TV channels.
It will urge those facing sex abuse of whatever kind to speak to someone they trust
e.g. a parent/carer, another relative, a friend, a teacher, or a friend's parent, or to visit www.donthideit.com
to phone ChildLine
on 0800 1111 or
text Advice to 60022.

It will also help young people know what to do if their peers are facing this issue.

The work of the NSPCC
The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. They have been directly involved in protecting children and campaigning on their behalf since 1884.

Child abuse is when a child suffers harm or even death because of physical cruelty, emotional cruelty, sexual abuse or neglect by an adult. Often the adult is a parent or someone whom the child knows and trusts. In many cases, the child may be subjected to a combination of different kinds of abuse: for example, neglect and physical abuse.

Don't hide it is the NSPCC's latest drive as part of its FULL STOP Campaign urging children to speak out on all forms of sex abuse. The NSPCC has set up a new website, www.donthideit.com to help young people build confidence and find out more about this abuse and understand that abuse is never their fault. The site will act as a safe online 'community' where they can talk about sex abuse and learn how it can be stopped.

Start searching at www.clickscount.co.uk - Every search carried out on this special MSN Search charity site makes a direct donation to the NSPCC. It doesn't cost you anything. All you do is search as normal, but using the special charity search engine. So get clicking and get everyone you know clicking too! Together, we can raise thousands for children that desperately need help.
