THE DORSET POTTERY GROUP
The Dorset Pottery Group was founded by me in1992. The aims of the Group are to :-
Arrange exhibitions of members' work
Share experience about pottery making
Provide facilities for discussions and for carrying out any pottery projects
To arrange bulk purchases and discounts on pottery materials etc.
To encourage links with similar Groups in this country
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in ceramics
The Group is run on a very informal basis. There is a £8 annual membership fee, payable by standing order
An annual exhibition of Members' work is held each autumn in the splendid Allsop Gallery in Bridport Arts Centre which is well publicised by the local press, radio and television
From 1992- 2000 I was the
Secretary of the Group. In the summer I organised a number of
outdoor pottery events e.g. Raku firings and kiln building.
Discussions on various pottery topics were held in the winter.
One or two Newsletters were
sent to members annually which gave up to date information about
meetings and events together with pottery news items from other parts
of the country, book reviews, potters tips etc. Copies of the
Newsletters were exchanged with most of the other UK pottery
associations and several groups abroad.
In 2001 Bill Crumbleholme took
over the running of the Group as Chairman and carried on the good work.
Recently David Archer became Chairman. Up to date
information about the Group can be obtained from him by
