VITAE
Ibrahim Kadriu was born on 8 January 1945
in Zhegėr of Gjilan (Kosova).
He finished his elementary education at birthplace in 1959,
and his high (teaching school) in Gjilan in 1964. He
completed his post-university studies in Prishtina. After
two years of working as a teacher, from 1968 he began his
regular job as a journalist for the daily newspaper "Rilindja",
journalist and editor of culture department and freelance.
He worked in "Rilindja" till 1999 (as an editor) and then
joins the daily "Zėri" where he is still assigned. As early
as the sixties he has been a prolific writer. His opus
includes the following works: "Netėt e Karadakut" (Karadak
Nights), poetry (1969); "Qyteti i luleve" (City of Flowers),
short stories (1970), "Pranvera shikon nga bregu" (Spring is
Looking Towards the Shore), poems (1972), "Diēka po ndodh"
(Something is Happening), poetry (1972), "E lumi
rridhte"(And the River Ran), novel and short stories (1973),
"Armend", a poem (1974), "Pas kthimit" (Following Return), a
novel (1975), republished "Naim Frashėri", (1985), "Hapėsirė"

Part of Ibrahim Kadrius works (poetry and fiction extracts)
have been published in French, German, Arabic, Romanian,
Turkish, Italian, English.
For his literary work he has received various awards, such
as "Shtjefėn Gjeēovi" Prize for poetry, November Prize (of
Prishtina) for the screenplay of a TV series "Fidan",
realized based on the novel "Pas kthimit" (Following
Return), Birthplace Prize, "Agim Ramadani" Award, etc. This
novel was turned into a Radio drama by Radio Tirana in
several editions and it was broadcast during the eighties.
