CURRICULUM VITAE

 

Ibrahim Kadriu was born on 8 January 1945 in Zhegėr of Gjilan (Kosova).


He finished his elementary education at birthplace in 1959, and his high (teaching school) in Gjilan in 1964. He completed his post-university studies in Prishtina. After two years of working as a teacher, from 1968 he began his regular job as a journalist for the daily newspaper "Rilindja", journalist and editor of culture department and freelance. He worked in "Rilindja" till 1999 (as an editor) and then joins the daily "Zėri" where he is still assigned. As early as the sixties he has been a prolific writer. His opus includes the following works: "Netėt e Karadakut" (Karadak Nights), poetry (1969); "Qyteti i luleve" (City of Flowers), short stories (1970), "Pranvera shikon nga bregu" (Spring is Looking Towards the Shore), poems (1972), "Diēka po ndodh" (Something is Happening), poetry (1972), "E lumi rridhte"(And the River Ran), novel and short stories (1973), "Armend", a poem (1974), "Pas kthimit" (Following Return), a novel (1975), republished "Naim Frashėri", (1985), "Hapėsirė" (Space), poetry (1977), "Shpėtimtarėt" (Saviors), novel and short stories (1978), "Kohė e tė korrave" (Harvest Times), novel (1979), "Troku" (Trot), poetry, (1980), Tregime (Short Stories), (1980), "Kroi i ilaēit" (Curing Spring), a novel (1982), published in Serbo-Croat "Lekovit izvor" (1987), "Ethet e njė dimri" (Winter Fevers), novel (1983), "Koprena vremena" , Serbo-Croat, poetry (Veil of Time) - (1984), "Zogjtė fluturojnė vetė" (Birds are Flying Alone), novel (1986), "Fjalori i mbrapsht" (A Vicious Vocabulary), poetry, (1986), "Epoka nė figura" (Epoch on Figures), novel (1987), "Nėna" (Mother), short stories, (1988), Short Stories, a selection as school literature (1988), "Pastaj harrohet" (Then it is Forgotten), poetry (1989), "Mė shumė se lojė" (More than a Game), novel, (1990), "Qerrja e dritės" (Cart of Light), novel (1990), "Loja e fundit" (Final Game), novel (1993), "Pėrrallorja" (Tale), short stories (1996), "Vite me plagė" (Time of Wounds), novel (1998), "Spirale muzgu" (Dusk Spiral), novel (2002), "Shqiptarja e gjithė botės" (An Albanian Woman for all the World), novel, republished by UEGEN, Tirana, 2003, republication of novel "Qerrja e dritės" (Cart of Light); "Shtėpia e fantazmave" (Ghost House), novel, 2004; "Qeni me tenxhere" (Dog with a Dish), poem, 2005, "Dreni dhe Drenusha" (Dreni and Drenusha), a short story, Albanian_Norwegian Illustration, 2005; "Na ramas timp pentru sarbatori" (No Time Left for Celebration), volume of poetry in Romanian, Bucharest, 2005. Other publications: Dhurata letrare (Literary Gift), Reading book for 7th graders (1987), several republications, "555 arsye pėr tė qeshur" (555 reasons to laugh), a comic book published by nickname I. Karadaku (1995), "444 arsye pėr tė qeshur" (444 reasons to laugh), a book containing jokes, nickname I. Karadaku (1997) .


Part of Ibrahim Kadriu’s works (poetry and fiction extracts) have been published in French, German, Arabic, Romanian, Turkish, Italian, English.


For his literary work he has received various awards, such as "Shtjefėn Gjeēovi" Prize for poetry, November Prize (of Prishtina) for the screenplay of a TV series "Fidan", realized based on the novel "Pas kthimit" (Following Return), Birthplace Prize, "Agim Ramadani" Award, etc. This novel was turned into a Radio drama by Radio Tirana in several editions and it was broadcast during the eighties.
