The Harbour.

A Busy time circa 1890, quite a crush in the middle, they would have taken some holding on a spring tide.

Zooming in from the above photo, you can start to visualize what the quays were like.

Look how far back the harbour wall was then.

The man sitting on the sinker was one of the coastguards (apparently). The sinker he's on can still be found when the sand is low.

A busy time in port.

Pre 1914 (the Shaldon Conservative club not yet built), a coal boat unloading at "the jetty" --now Brigantine Quay.

Gone are the days of trading Schooners, this is June 1945.
