G K Collyer 'Colly' racing a 'Morgan Giles' punt in 1925, soon after this one design racing was started with the 'International 14' class, and subsequently '12 foot Nationals'.
The River Teign is thought by many to be the root of 'one design' racing with many fine craft coming from Abraham Pengelly and the yard of F C Morgan-Giles, G K Collyer and 'the old man' F C Morgan Giles lay down on paper for the first time the rules by which sailing boats could be raced within a class, but still leave room for indervidual experimentation.
