St Albans Folk Music

St Albans Folk Music organises pub sessions, workshops linked to concerts and an annual 'New roots' competition for young musicians. It is a part of the 'Folk at the Festival' Committee which organises the St Albans Folk Festival.

Sessions Mainly traditional Irish, English, Scottish and other traditional music. All welcome to listen or to play.

Weekly sessions return to the Rose and Crown, St Michaelís Street at 9.00pm on Wednesdays from October 11 to November 30 in the first instance. They will resume after Christmas with a revised start time of 8.30pm.

Monthly sessions at the Great Northern, London Road at 6.00pm on Sundays, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month. The next session is on November 26. In December, there will be a post Christmas session on Thursday December 28 instead of on a Sunday, then will go back to fourth Sundays of the month from January 28 onwards.

St Albans Folk Festival will be on June 15 - 17 2018, with the main events being on Saturday June 16.

Friday Jan 5, 8.00pmNew Year Concert with singer songwriter Chris Flegg with songs from†† his new album, The Road To The Rainbow's End, plus duo Warp and Weft and New Roots finalists, The Aldyn Duo.


Friday Feb 2, 8.00pmNorwich based folk / Americana trio Alden, Patterson and Dashwood plus others tbc.


Friday Mar 2, 8.00pmDaria Kulesh and friends is the provisional name for a new band, making its first local appearance at The Maltings.

St Michael's Street folk evening
St Michael's Street folk evening will be on Wednesday July 4 2018. Dancing in St Michael's Street and music everywhere.
