A Brief History of the Church: The first church on this
site was a corrugated iron mission building erected in 1898. In 1901 a brick
extension was added, and in 1906 the iron building In 1950 it was consecrated as the Parish Church of the new parish of Lady Bay, the area between the river and the Grantham canal west of Adbolton. Over the years the church building has been lovingly cared for and many improvements have been made. Recently a new Church Hall has been built with funds from the Lottery Commission. The church is also fully equipped to welcome disabled worshippers and has a new sound system with an inductive loop for people with hearing aids. The Church Today Everyone living in this area has a right to be baptised and married, and to have their funeral service conducted, in their parish church; if baptised they have the right to be entered on the church's Electoral Roll and vote at its annual meeting, including for the Parochial Church Council which with the Vicar is responsible for Church administration. The Church is committed to the whole local community and therefore: Services are varied to meet the needs of as wide an age and spiritual range as possible. The Church of England's 1662 'Book of Common Prayer' (BCP) is used as well as 'Common Worship' (CW) for both Communion and Morning and Evening Prayer (Matins and Evensong when sung). A robed choir leads the 10.00 services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. The '3rd Sunday Light service' by contrast is a simple, short, very informal service with the needs of the young - and young at heart of all ages - in mind. There is also a less formal Family Communion Service on the 1st Sunday (and 5th when there is one.) A new pattern of services was introduced in 2005. Click here for details. The Future From January 1st 2006 the Parish of Lady Bay and the near by Parish of Holme Pierrepont with Adbolton were joined to form the new Benefice of Lady Bay with Holme Pierrepont and Adbolton. The Vicar of Lady Bay, Robert Breckles also became its first Rector. The two churches, All Hallows and St. Edmunds will still have their own PCCs and parish responsibilities but only the one Vicar. It is expected that working together will be developed as times goes by. We welcome everyone to all services. For Church Organisations please CLICK HERE.
