December 11th The Christmas Fair was held on Saturday December 9th and raised over £982. On Sunday, December 10th a Community Carol Service was held at Blades on Trent Boulevard. This was a Joint venture with St. Luke's Church, Gamston. The event was very successful and enjoyed by all who attended. July 24th - July 28th 2006 The annual Children's Holiday Club took place during the first week of the school holidays. It was very successful with over 50 children attending. More details here soon. January 1st 2006 Today the new United Benefice of Lady Bay with Holme Pierrepont and Adbolton was officially born. The Church Commissioners confirmed this by letter on December 31st 2005. Although there will still be two parishes there will be one incumbent, the Vicar of Lady Bay, Robert Breckles. He, however, is now officially the Rector of the Benefice. Members of the All Hallows congregation attended the annual Bell Service at St. Edmunds, Holme Pierrepont this morning following Communion at All Hallows. An announcement of the official linking of the parishes was made at both churches. Robert will officiate at Communion Services at St. Edmunds at least twice a month - other joint services are hoped to be planned in the future. The church at Holme Pierrepont was full this morning as the work of the bell ringers was celebrated. The choir was augmented by members of the All Hallows Choir. It was a splendid occasion. December 2005/ January 2006 Another splendid season of Christmas Services have taken place. The church was almost full at Midnight Communion on the 24th/ 25th of December. We were pleased to see a large contingent of residents from Skylarks at the service accompanied by volunteers and staff. We were pleased that the new central heating pump was installed and working by this service so the church was warm again! All Hallows is now looking forward to the new relationship with St. Edmunds Church, Holme Pierrepont. See the Vicars Thoughts. On January 1st he will be taking his first service of Communion at St. Edmunds at 11.00 am. Although the official merging of the 2 parishes has not yet taken place (this is due very soon in 2006) Robert has now 'informally' taken over responsibility for the new United Benefice. It is intended that this website will include news and service details for St. Edmunds and the web master will be talking to the PCC (s) about this in the New Year. There is an interesting article about St. Edmunds by Harry Gill here. November 2005 The Bishop of Southwell visited the Church on the occasion of the Patronal Festival to dedicate the new baptistery windows. August 2005 A working party of the congregation spent Saturday morning re-organising some of the furniture in church. The resulting arrangement will be left in place during the Summer and the Vicar and Church Wardens welcome any comments. The aim is to improve the look of the church and to enable the whole congregation to be more 'together.' With a new pattern of services being introduced in September it is also time to consider how the physical arrangements of the church can enhance our worship of God. Please give this a lot of prayer and thought. Here are some pictures of how the church looks now: The Sanctuary The Nave on Sunday Morning The Altar July 2005 A very successful Church Holiday Club for children has taken place in the Church Halls. Over 50 children were involved in a variety of activities during the week. We hope to have a report on the club on the web site in the near future. March 2005 The congregation said its 'goodbyes' to William McCullagh who has been a Church member ever since he came to Holme Lodge fifteen years ago. Always cheerful and friendly, we will miss him, and wish him well at his new home at Dukeries Cheshire Home, Retford. November 28th The Church's annual Christmas Fair was held yesterday and was very successful. The tremendous amount of £1446 was raised and a good time was had by all who came. October 24th Today was the last service before Brenda and Steve Cooper move to their new home in Cornwall. They have been stalwarts of All Hallows for the past 20 years and will be greatly missed. Brenda has been involved with many facets of Church life including leading the Mother's Union. Steve has been involved in the Men's Fellowship and with many practical works around the church. They were presented with a card signed by many members of the church during the 10.30 Communion Service. We wish them a happy time in their new home and hope they will come back and see us sometime in the future. August 23rd The Trent Boulevard Methodist Church closed in 2001 and it has been decided that a memorial plaque from it is to be kept in All Hallows Church. It will be dedicated during the 10.00 am morning service on Thursday August 26th. The service will be attended by the Revd. Brian Spencer and many of our Methodist Friends. August 22nd There will be a meeting of the PCC Standing Committee after the 10.30 service in advance of an extra PCC meeting on Monday August 23rd at 7.30pm. The main items to be discussed are possible improvements to the Vicar's Vestry and a stain glass window in memory of Babs Alexander. July 5th The Church Council held its latest meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting held on May 17th were approved. Decisions made at that meeting can be seen on the PCC Page. July 3rd 2004 The Vicar, David Allen and Joan Marsh attended the launch of the updated Diocesan Policy on Child Protection - Children and Young People First. It was introduced by the Bishop of Southwell at The Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Mansfield. The original policy was launched in 1999 but this update was needed because of changes in the law, the Internet, concerns over domestic violence and feedback from Parishes. Our church Child Protection Committee will now need to review our policy in the light of the new Policy. The Christian Aid collection for Lady Bay raised £954 this year. The final total including a Jumble Sale and Coffee Morning was £1272. The collection covers the area from Holme Road to Trent Boulevard. June 19th 2004 This year's Fair held on June 19th raised £1175 for Church Funds. In addition to the usual stalls and attractions there was a 'Promises Auction' during the afternoon. A large number of people visited the Church Halls during the day and enjoyed the usual excellent refreshments. Thanks go to everyone who helped, donated goods and prizes, provided food or who spent so generously at the Fair.
