About the Alnwick Model Railway Society

Recently resurrected from the distant memories of the Alnwick and District Model Railway Club, the Alnwick Model Railway Society has made considerable progress since its rebirth early in 2007.

It is with grateful thanks to the chairman of the Aln Valley Railway Society (AVRS), Kay Seymour-Walker, that the club has been able to negotiate the use of premises in Embleton, near Alnwick.

Consequently, a large 00 scale layout is being built that has a heavy bias on the railways in the local area. Consisting of a large double track mainline oval with a junction station, there is a long branch line with plans to include a coalmine, quarry (with 009 workings) and staiths.

Part of the branchline has been designed to be portable for use at exhibitions and shows and for promoting the aspirations of the Aln Valley Railway Society (AVRS). The 7 arch Cawledge Viaduct has already been painstakingly constructed by member Dave Thornton.
