---------------------- ONY-X 2 Feature list (planned) ---------------------- (All features of ONY-X [1] should also be included) (N.B. Features and subfeatures marked with a question mark '?' are tentative and uncertain. Inclusion may be dependent on feedback to this List, and/or postponed until later versions of ONY-X) (This feature list is entirely provisional. There is no guarantee that any given feature from this list will be included in any version of ONY-X ever) New Cached-screen window engine. Store old screen for comparison to minimise draw time. Cursor movement requiring no refresh, as was done with ONY-X [1]. Customisable appearance. User-selectable backgrounds. Allow Import background from file (.bmp, .ebm). Background stored with File.pak Animated cursors. User-customisable cursors. Import, Store as for background. User-customisable Buttons Import, Store as for background. Choice of colours. Main window, Active window, Inactive Window Frame, Text and Back 16 colours. (possibly palette of 64...?) Dither for more? (this is feasible; a test 'dither' program has been written, and works sufficiently well) Integrated mini-programs. Calculator? Clock. Crypty-X shell? Diagnostic Toolkit? Bitmap Viewer? Editor? File Manager? Installer built upon File.pak technology. Custom install? Install type determines how many of backgrounds, cursors, buttons etc to install. Minimal install only installs the default background, cursors and buttons. Maybe also have option of which mini-programs to install??? [This would be very difficult and maybe even impossible. But I'll probably try] If you're really lucky, I might find out how to access the mouse, which would be a massive improvement to user-friendliness. ---------------------- List prepared 14th April 2007 by Edward Cree.
