At our AGM in October 2004 a motion was passed which opened up membership of the Cardiff Morris to dancers of either sex. This has led to changes within the side which are still resonating, not least of which is the change to the name of the side as above. The adopted Welsh translation is "Y Morys Caerdydd". Anyone interested in dancing the Morris in Cardiff is welcome to join us, although we should draw your attention to the other dancing sides in Cardiff in the Morris traditions, Cardiff Ladies Morris and Clocs Canton.

Although it is commonly thought that the practice of Morris Dancing is an utterly English thing, there exists in the Land Of My Fathers a branch of this terpsichorean art steeped in the traditions of The Morris for over a quarter of a century - just how many times must there be repetition before it becomes "tradition"?... - we present: The Cardiff Morris!
Having danced in the Capital City of the Principality for long enough, we have become, by default and longevity, if nothing else, a respectable non-gender-specific representation of modern dance.... no, I can't go on, we're only in it for the beer!
Although we do not dance out in England quite as much as we used to back in the halcyon days of the 70s and early 80s we would like to think that those sides who do know us remember us as a side who know how to have a good time as well as maintain a standard of dance to be proud of. As we dance mainly an eight-dancer repertoire and have the usual recruitment problems, we have to be selective in what we commit to... does any of this sound familiar?
Warning... Do take some of the following with a large pinch of salt and in the spirit it is meant!... we love the English and the Men of Monmouth, honest! :-)
