HAPPY CHRISTMAS

AND AN EVEN BETTER

HAPPY NEW YEAR

TO ONE AND ALL!

Well, here we are again, happy as can be. All good friends and jolly good company! I'm truly happy to be able to tell you that the S.U.F. will continue, even though we may well have to "tighten our belts"! Nevertheless, both Anne and I are here to help, to advise, to visit when need arises. So don't forget to ask, to chat, to phone etc. whenever you either feel the need or just want to!

CHRISTMAS PRAYER

To children make us ever kind,
To animals and old folk too;
And may we daily seek to find
Kind words to say, kind acts to do.

Dearer to Him than Midnight Mass,
Repeating creeds or chanting praise,
Is daily following in His steps
And showing forth His love always.

Of neither fish, nor flesh, nor fowl
Can we who know his love;
From slaughtered corpses we recoil
Who "Live and let live" our motto make.

With others in this way of life
Our happiness we long to share:
That all may find Thy way of love-
hear, Lord, our Christmas prayer!

from our strictly Vegetarian member,  Jamie A. Smith

Jamie knows that I am not a vegetarian, but I do believe that if we choose to eat meat then we must ensure that the animals, fish, fowl are treated with kindness and care both during their life and when facing execution. It is for that reason I used to be Chair of the Tayside S.S.P.C.A. group, and I still support S.S.P.C.A., P.D.S.A., and I.F.A.W. in their work for the betterment of all animal life.

CHRISTMAS

Christmas is, of course, a Christian Festival established to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Unfortunately, no Birth Certificate exists to confirm the date of His birth, so the 25th.December is just a selected date which has been generally accepted as the date on which the Christian world celebrates His birth!

However, it is a time to enjoy life and to be glad that Jesus lived to bring the Christian faith into our world. It is perhaps a great misfortune that the human form of religion has taken over and largely ignores the 10 Commandments accepted by Him - especially that which reads: "Thou shouldst love thy neighbour as thyself".

So I ask you: "Will you help to bring this world to accept our Unitarian Tenets of Belief which have been derived from this Commandment?"

MINISTER'S LETTER

Dear Friends,

The Rev. Sydney Knight wrote: "The New Year lies before us like morning fresh, untrodden snow... it is ours to make or mar."

 This year has been a time of uncertainty for the S.U.F. However, I am delighted that so many of you have responded to our letter and have pledged your support to the Fellowship. The approaching New Year now gives us all the opportunity to 'recharge our batteries, and move forward into the future with a new confidence and enthusiasm. What we make of the New Year depends upon each one of us, as individuals, and as a Fellowship.

I send you my very Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.
