Dear Sir,
A small error appeared in your report the on-line A21 road scheme
at Castle Hill is four lanes. Apparently this section of road is not a
black spot. Could the a widening result in increased serious injuries?
(from the graph enclosed you will see that death rate for men rises
sharply at about aged 17).
Apparently the A21 is the most studied road, but this time although the
Access to Hastings study has been very broad it is disappointing that
the re-opening the rail line to Brighton and rail freight sidings are
not included. This will suit Rail Track who have been much criticised
for resisting investment.
The study does rate problems for Cyclists and Pedestrians crossing the
A21 at the Longfield Road roadabout, but I have spoken to a cyclist
nurse who was brushed aside at this junction. Your report correctly
notes concern of the adverse effect to the High Weald Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty there is also a Hill Fort (scheduled ancient
monument).
What will local road advocates want next - a bypass of the A26 such as
across Southborough Common, Speldhurst, to Langton Green?
Yours sincerely
Andrew Lohmann
