Albert Tennis ClubAlbert Bowling &
Tennis Club Want to drop us an email : info@alberttennis.org.uk Need to find us ? Here is the MultiMap Link The
Albert club is often referred to as a ‘hidden gem’, situated as it is
in a lovely quiet position and tucked away on Old Lansdowne Road in a
garden setting. If that
wasn’t enough it is steeped in history and a great suntrap for those who
are sun lovers. So it
is no wonder that if you come down on any Saturday afternoon during the
Spring and Summer you will see plenty of people enjoying a game of social
tennis and later in the bar having a pint or two. What
makes the club special is it’s open and welcoming ambience.
If you can serve and hold a rally then that’s enough to join in
with social tennis on Saturdays, and if you are not quite there yet, you
soon will be with some coaching from the club coach. And it isn't just adults either, there are plenty of juniors (and I mean little ones) who can learn to play in the casual and friendly setting of the club. Congratulations to our Junior U12 Team who gained promotion to Division 1 of the North East Cheshire League. It has been such a success that next season we plan on having 3 teams. If you fancy playing drop Dave an email coaching@alberttennis.org.uk . For the serious amongst you, the club has a number of match teams playing through the Summer in the North East Cheshire (2 ladies and 3 men’s teams) and the South West Manchester (1 ladies and 2 men’s teams) so no excuse for missing the chance for a bit of competitive play. Don’t
miss out this Summer on the chance to relax on the weekend or an evening,
to enjoy a drink and a game of pool or snooker, and most of all to improve
your game! To
find out more or to find players to pair up with contact one of the people
shown in 'Contact' at the top of the page. Happy
Tennis!

2008 Fees now due!Remember, all 2008 subs are now due. Full 2008 prices are on the General Info page. Singles Box League now live!.We've started up a new box league for the Winter months. If you fancy finding out more click here - BOX LEAGUE Winter Mixed Doubles Competition. We are running a mixed doubles competition throughout the
Winter, commencing October 2007 and finishing in March 2008. This
will be an opportunity for everyone to ensure that they get to play
some tennis throughout the Winter and to meet other tennis members.
Partners will be drawn and the event will be handicapped so players
of all standards are encouraged to enter.
Entrants will be required to play at least two events per
month. Events can be played at any time, other than between 2pm and
5pm on a Saturday, but we hope that as many people as possible will
play their events on Sunday afternoons when we would also like to
encourage more social tennis (maybe followed by ‘pie and a pint’ or
‘tea and biscuits’ in the bar which is open Sunday afternoons.) Each event will consist of 2 sets (tie-break at 6-6) and a point will be awarded for each set won. The winners in each half of the draw will play a best of three sets final to decide the ultimate winners. The final will be played early April 2008. The entry fee is £2 per person and competitors will be
responsible for providing their own tennis balls and paying for
floodlights. If you would like to enter, please put your name on the list on the notice board. Closing date for entries, Sunday 7 October 2007. If you have any queries please contact Janet Bellis on 0161 445 9142 Full results of this years Summer Tennis Tournament are soon to be posted. Congratulations to the winners - 2007 SUMMER TOURNAMENT. |
