April 2008
The Littleton & West Hill Indoor team have walk off with the silverware for winning Division 4 of the Indoor league. An ageing but experience team showed the younger players from other clubs how the game should be played. The core squad primarily consisted of Dave Guy [kept superbly, and retired a few times batting], Steve Fenner [usual unpredictable self, scoring valuable runs, less said about the bowling....], Andy Walker [the old man proves he can still play the game, retired or not out in every innings], Alan Zanetti [the even older man, bowled well and added a few runs too], Phil Cook [still an amazingly tidy bowler and chipped in with the runs], Will Lecomber [the youngster in the team, shows how old we are, bowled superbly throughout] and Paul Zanetti [stepped in when needed and did his bit]. Special mention must also go to Ray Fenner for scoring regularly throughout the season.
April 2008 - Cricket Nets - These will take place on Wednesdays the 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of April between 8pm and 9pm at the Winchester College Indoor facility on College Street. The cost is £3 per session, or £10 if you will be attending all 4 sessions, but this must be paid at the first session. SO DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR MONEY.
December 2007
Littleton CC FC have done it again. After another hard fought season of 22 games, the team secured the Premier League title in the SoccerclubUK six-a-side football league. This completes a hat-trick of league titles. Congratulations to all.
November 2007 - Paul Anscombe completes the New York Marathon to raise money for MacMillan Nurses.
Earlier this month, Paul Anscombe competed in the New York Marathon in aid of the MacMillan Nurses Charity. After months of training, and abstinence from footy, cricket and other activities which could injure him, Paul was set to take on the challenge for a second time. He travelled to the Big Apple with his loyal support team - Nigel Dibben, Scotty McLeonards, Tom Brown (see photo) - who between them couldn't run a mile, let alone 26 ! Racing in good conditions, Paul took on many fitter runners, eventually passing Rick Waller after 16 miles (see photo) and look to be in no bother. The only problem he had was remembering who he was, but he had sneakily printed this on his running vest so he wouldn't forget it. So after 4 hours and 23 seconds of hard slog, Paul completed this trial of stamina, fitness and camaraderie. An amazing effort, and all at the Club salute you.
Lets though not forget the real reason for this brave effort. The Macmillan Nurses do a brilliant job in supporting those less fortunate than ourselves. Their work often goes unnoticed, but to those who have experienced it, they can alleviate pain and suffering, provide friendship and company, and offer amazing support to family members in their time of need. Pauls efforts have already raised thousands of pounds, and it would be brilliant to hit the £10,000 mark. It is not too late, you can still donate through to the 6th January 2008, and it is easy. Just follow the link below, and give as much as you can.
Once again, congratulations to Paul, and please donate to this worthy cause.
June 30th 2007 - Another junior cricketer for the future.
After weeks of keeping us on edge (and stopping Steve playing for the 1sts [not such a bad thing]), we are delighted to welcome the arrival of Jack Fenner to the Club. Born at 12.10 pm weighing 8lb 7oz. he is just like his Dad. Late arriving and doesn't like being out. Our congratulations go to Kirsty and Steve.
April 2007 - Thanks to our Financial Wizards
After many years (too many to remember) our two stalwarts of finance have retired. Pete Bayless has managed our accounts as Treasurer, ensuring we are always ticking over with money in the bank. His reports and ledgers have always been superbly maintained, and he will be a very hard act to follow. Also this year, our Auditor, Alan Hopwood has said he will no longer be continuing. He has always provided a timely and valuable service to the Club. On behalf of the Club, we would like to salute Pete and Alan, and extend our thanks for all their efforts over the years.
2007 - Charity Ball to raise money for MacMillan Nurses.
Don't panic, the event is still definitely going ahead. Unfortunately due to logistical reasons, the event has now had to be moved to Saturday 8th September 2007. Hopefully this will not affect what should be a good turn out from the Cricket Club.
2007 - Charity Ball to raise money for MacMillan Nurses.
In November 2007, Paul Anscombe will again be taking part in the New York Marathon as part of the team representing Macmillan Cancer Relief. The showpiece of his fundraising efforts, will be to stage another Charity Ball. Some may have attended the previous event, but this one promises to be bigger and better. With 250 guests, you will be welcomed with a champagne reception, wined and dined, and entertained by bands and live music. There will also be auctions, raffles and a mini casino. As it is still at early planning stages, more is proposed to be added.
The event will take place at Hunter Park, Twyford on Saturday 1st September 2007.
Tickets are likely to be around £45 which should represent good value, and it is all towards an excellent cause. Tables are likely to be in groups of 8 or 10, so what better way to spend an evening with friends or family. It is also the first Saturday after the completion of the league cricket season, so a perfect opportunity to turn it into an end of season social get together. So why not provisionally book this date in your diary.
In 2004, £7,500 was raised through various fund-raising efforts. It would be brilliant to break that figure this time. You could assist with this. If you have any items which could be donated for auction, it would be much appreciated, last time for example there was a 2004 FA Cup final match ball, signed cricket bats, VIP tickets to see the filming of Parkinson, helicopter flights and many more.
If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact Paul.
May 2006.
It is with regret we have to announce the death of one of our past members, Mark Freemantle, who passed away after a short illness aged 40. Mark came through the youth system with his brother Nigel and the support of his father, Club stalwart Dave. Mark was a good all-rounder and and an excellent social member while with the Club. Our sympathies go to all his family.
April 2006.
Indoor Nets have been arranged for April 2006. Unfortunately, during this period, the River Park Leisure Centre is closed, so we will be using the Indoor centre at Dummer.
Four sessions have been arranged on the 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th April from 8 - 9pm.
September 2005
The club was today rocked by the news that a stalwart of the establishment is no longer a single man. Without any mention to esteemed colleagues within either the cricket or football teams, Phil Cook and the lovely Becky got married. May we all within the Club wish them the best for the future (providing it doesn't affect Phil's cricket), and hope they have a wonderful life together. To prove this is not a hoax, evidence is available within the Photo section of this website.
2005 Season
The final weekend of the season. The 1st team were basically assured of 3rd place, whatever the result, and the 2nds would finish mid table. The 1st team lost their final match, primarily due to a reverse in the batting order, and the so called big guns not being able to do their part when the going gets tough at the end. The bowling also suffered from the introduction of a spinner who tried to bowl like Steve Harmison. The 2nds did not play due to the oppositions pitch being deemed unfit. An interesting decision which led to the HCL inspectors visiting the ground.
Dick of the Season was awarded, and all agreed it was on merit, to the skipper Paul Anscombe for his hatful of fines over the season. The annual 'visit' to the Ale houses of Winchester took place in the evening, with the 9 participants suitably attired in jackets and ties which did not match any of the other clothing, and definitely will not be seen on the catwalks this season.
Another good season for both teams, we now have to wait and see if 3rd place for the 1st Team was sufficient for promotion, it has been the last couple of seasons.
For next season, we would like to create player profiles on the Web Site. This will include answers to a selected 10 questions, yet to be agreed. To do this, I need e-mail details of all players, plus where possible a suitable photo (other photos may be used by the Webmaster if deemed more suitable). So if you could all send me your details to ar-walker@ntlworld.com it would be much appreciated. This also applies to LCCFC, we'll see if we can do the same for the Footy team.

End of May, and both the 1st and 2nd Teams remain unbeaten, with the 1st Team top of their Division. An excellent start, long may it continue.

1 September 2004 - So the end of the season, and what a success it has been. Congratulations to the 2nd Team who lost only one match and comfortably won their league. Although a superb team effort, special mention must be made for the consistent batting of 'silver fox' Derek Dibben, the astounding bowling figures of Will Lecomber, and the emergence of youngster Greg Sullivan.
The 1st Team, again an excellent season, finishing as runners up and also gaining promotion. A level of confusion though as Stockton and Steeple Langford, the two teams above in the league were playing each other last match of the season, and according to 'Scoop' Arculus the game was cancelled due to an unfit pitch, thus both maintained their averages. Subsequent results on the HCL website showed Stockton beating Steeple by the massive margin of 1 wicket. This season saw Phil Cook maintaining his 'Star All-rounder' mantle, but is being hard pressed by the emergence of Nigel Dibben who has proven he can also bowl a bit. Skipper Paul Anscombe marshalled the team superbly ensuring some games which appeared lost were actually won.

Unfortunately we have lost one of our most committed members this season. He has decided to 'up sticks' and move to the highlands of Scotland (Does Scotland know what it is taking on !). We have also lost a valuable tea lady in his wife as he is taking the whole family with him. The reason for the special mention, is that without him, this website would never have got started, and much of the humorous content would never have become available in the public domain. Hopefully the current Webmaster can continue the site with similar success. So, Steve Herridge, thanks for all your hard work over the years, best wishes to you and your family on the new venture, and come back and see us whenever you can.
