448. William Wilson BLYTH
was born about 1819 in St Osyth, Essex. He was baptised on 23 Jul 1819
in St Osyth, Essex. He inherrited a 'Partridge' plate from his uncle, Edward
Blyth on 17 Mar 1845. The plate had belonged to Edwards father, William Wilson's
grandfather, William Blyth. He was the Executor to the Will of Carrington Wilson
Blyth, his father on 14 Nov 1846. He inherrited his parents home upon the death
of his mother on 3 Feb 1848. William was to pay a sum of £300 to the trustees
of his fathers will. The remainder of his fathers personal and financial possessions
were to be split equally between William and his sister, Jane. The money was
to be invested and William would receive the yearly interest. He owned House,
Premises and Land in 1864 in St Osyth, Essex. These were valued at £865.
William paid rates of £10.16.3. He also owned 2 cottages valued at £6,
the rates due were 9d. Rates from 1864 to 1874 were 3d in the £.
1866: William owned the same house, land property and 2 cottages, rateable value
as in 1864. The rates due were £7.4.2 and 6d.
1867: The house, land and property were valued at £889, rates due were £7.8.2.
The 2 cottages were still valued at £6, rates due 6d.
1868: House, land and property as 1867. William now owned a piece of the sea
wall valued at £8, rates due 1s4d. No mention of the 2 cottages.

1875: Rates rose to 4d in the £. Williams house, land and property increased
to £900, rates due £15.0.0; Sea wall and sands valued at £8, rates
due £0.2.8; four cottages valued at £12, rates due £0.2.0.
1876: House and land valued at £900, rates due £15.2.8; four cottages
valued at £12, rates due £0.2.0.
1877: Rates increased to 5d in the £. House and land valued at £900,
rates due £18.15.0; Sea wall and sands valued at £8, rates due £0.3.4;
four cottages valued at £12, rates due £0.5.0.
1883: House and garden valued at £18, rates due £0.6.0; Land valued
at £785, rates due £13.1.8; Sea wall and sands valued at £8, rates
due £0.2.8; four cottages valued at £12, rates due £0.4.0.
1884: exactly the same as 1883.
1886: Rates were charged to Mrs Blyth, Executors to the estate of William. House
and garden valued at £17, rates due £0.5.8; Land £715, rates due
£11.18.4; Sea wall valued at £7, rates due £0.2.4; Sand valued
at £2.5.0, rates due £0.0.9; four cottages valued at £12, rates
due £0.4.0. He signed a will on 21 Jun 1879. He died on 13 Aug 1884 in
St Osyth, Essex. He was buried on 18 Aug 1884 in St Osyth, Essex. His will
was proved on 25 Sep 1884 in Ipswich, Suffolk. His estate was valued at £5,847.2.1.
Two of the executors were John Smith, a farmer of Alton Park, Gt Clacton and
Thomas Grimwood, a Miller from Weeley. He was a Farmer. 1851 Census: William
was farming 522 acres at Park Farm, St Osyth. He employed 22 men. 1861 Census:
William farmed 420 acres of arable land, had 190 Acres of marsh land, employed
20 men and 5 boys.
1871 Census: He farmed 601 acres, employed 18 men and 5 boys.
1881 Census: William farmed 601 acres, employed 10 men and 7 boys.

1886, 1888, 1890. 1851 Census: William, 31, unmarried, was at Park Farm, St
Osyth.
1854: William Wilson was living at Park Farm at the time of his sons, Edward
Marks, baptism.
1861 Census: William, 40, was at Park Farm with his wife Mary E.and 4 sons.
1881 Census: William, 50, was living at Park Farm, Clacton Road, St Osyth, with
his wife and son. They had a dairy maid and a general servant living with them.
1884: Burial records state William being 65 at time of death. He was married
to Mary Ann MAYHEW (daughter of Mark John MAYHEW) on 11 Mar
1851 in Kennington, Surrey. Mary Ann MAYHEW was born
in 1829. She died on 2 Oct 1855 in St Osyth, Essex. She Administration on 27
Dec 1864 in Ipswich, Suffolk. Mary Ann's estate and effects were valued under
£200. Administration was granted to her husband, William Wilson. William
Wilson BLYTH and Mary Ann MAYHEW had the following children:

Carrington George BLYTH was baptised on 28 Sep 1855 in St Osyth, Essex.
Private baptism, admitted to church 25th Nov 1855. He died between 1 Oct 1855
and 31 Dec 1855 in Tendring District, Essex. Carrington died aged 3 months.
He was born. He was married to Mary Elizabeth MAYHEW (daughter of
Angor Negus MAYHEW and Mary UNKNOWN) on 16 Feb 1858 in
Aldham, Essex. From the West Suffolk & East Essex Free Press: "The
marriage took place of W.W. Blyth Esq of St Osyth to Mary Elizabeth, eldest surviving
daughter of late Mr A.N. Mayhew of Aldham."
From the marriage register: William, widow, was from St Osyth, Mary, spinster,
was from Aldham. They were married by Licence. Both signed the register. The
witnesses were James Coleman Mayhew, James Mayhew and Mark Blyth Mayhew.
Mary Elizabeth MAYHEW was baptised on 2 Jan 1829 in Aldham, Essex.
She was the Executor to the Will of her husband, William, on 25 Sep 1884 in
Ipswich, Suffolk. She signed a will on 7 Dec 1900 in Peckham, Surrey. She died
on 30 Mar 1906 in Witham, Essex. She was buried on 5 Apr 1906 in St Osyth, Essex.
Burial records show Mary, aged 76, as living at The Hawthorns, Witham, Essex
at time of death. Her will was proved on 27 Apr 1906 in London. Her estate
was valued at £444.11.8. She was born in Aldham, Essex. Cousin of William
Wilson's first wife, Mary Ann Mayhew.
1861 Census: Mary, 31, was at Park Farm, St Osyth with her husband and 4 sons.
1881 Census: Mary, 40, was living with her husband and son at Park Farm, Clacton
Road, St Osyth.
1891 Census: at Park Farm, St. Osyth.
1892 & 1894 Kelly's Directories list Mrs Wm Blyth as being at Park Farm.
1900: Mary was living at 13 Montpelier Road, Peckham when she wrote her will.
