171. Thomas BLYTH was born about 1800. He was a Grocer and Draper in 1840. Oct 1858: Thomas was a Draper. He signed a will on 4 Apr 1840 in Colchester, Essex. When Thomas wrote his will he was living in Nayland. He died on 12 Jun 1840 in Nayland, Suffolk. Thomas died aged 40. He was buried in Langham Baptist Church, Essex. When his Uncle, Thomas Blyth of Langham, wrote his will in February 1842 Thomas had already died. He was described as a Grocer and Linen Draper from Nayland, Suffolk. Thomas left £250 to be divided equally between his nephews children when they reached the ages of 21.

He was married to Mary Stammers ALGER (daughter of Samuel ALGER and Mary STAMMERS) on 17 Sep 1826 in Nayland, Suffolk. Mary Stammers ALGER was born about 1798 in Holton St Mary, Suffolk. She was the Executor to the Will of her husband, Thomas Blyth, on 4 Apr 1840. She inherrited all her husbands personal and real estate on 4 Jan 1841 in London. Mary was left all her husbands estate on the condition that when she died it be split equally between all their surviving children. She died on 24 Feb 1854 in Nayland, Suffolk. Mary died aged 56. She signed a will on 24 Feb 1854 in Nayland, Suffolk. Her will was proved on 19 Aug 1854 in Sudbury, Suffolk. She was buried in Langham Baptist Church, Essex. She was a Linen Draper. In Kellys 1846 Directory of Suffolk Mary is listed as a Grocer and Draper in Nayland. 1841 Census: Mary, 40, widow, was living at South Street, Nayland, Suffolk together with her 5 children.
1851 Census: Mary was 52, living with her daughters Emily and Hannah at 45 Church Street, Nayland. Thomas BLYTH and Mary Stammers ALGER had the following children:

316 v. Ann Catherine BLYTH was born on 31 Aug 1834 in Nayland, Suffolk. She was baptised in 1837 in Nayland Congregational Church, Suffolk. She inherrited one fifth of her mothers real and personal estate on 19 Aug 1854. She signed a will on 16 May 1898 in Nayland, Suffolk. When Ann wrote her will she was a Spinster, living in Nayland. The executors and trustees were her sister Emily Mary Alger and nephew Francis Holton. Her will was witnessed by Charles E. Gowing and Clara E. Gowing, son and grandaughter of Clara Gowing (nee Pizzey). She died on 3 Dec 1900 in Nayland, Suffolk. Her will was proved on 29 Jan 1901 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Her effects were valued at £3,145.7.5. She was buried in Nayland Congregational Church, Suffolk. Memorial inscription: In loving memory of / Ann Catherine Blyth / who died 3rd Dec 1900. 1841 Census: Ann, 6, living at Court Street, Nayland, with her mother.
1851 Census: Ann, 15, was one of three pupils at a singing school, 5 Terrace, St John's Street, Colchester (St Mary at the Walls). She was listed as Katherine.
1861 Census: Anne was aged 26, unmarried, living at 34 Court Street, Nayland with her brothers Thomas and James.
1871 Census: Staying at Clock House Farm, Glemsford, Suffolk with her second cousin, once removed, Samuel Robert Blyth. Catherine was aged 37, born Nayland, Suffolk.
1881 Census: Ann, 46, was an 'inmate' at 57 Church Road, Hastings, Sussex. She was shown as the daughter of a Merchant. From the information available on the census, it seems that this address may have been some kind of nursing home or small hospital.
1891 Census: shows Ann to be back living in Nayland with her sister and nieces at Bear Street. Ann was 'living on her own income'.
