What’s New!

We now have a Senior SRN Midwife in charge of the clinic, a very efficient Gambian committee running the clinic on a daily basis and the clinic operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The staff has settled down into a rota system which seems to be working well.

The services we are now offering include antenatal care, normal deliveries, infant welfare, immunisations and vaccinations, minor injuries, blood tests and treatment for malaria; we are issuing bed nets and supplying a pharmacy service.

We have just received confirmation of a grant from Haywards Heath Rotary for £500 and a grant from Trisoft to help with the anaemia control project. This project aims to identify and treat anaemia in schoolchildren and pregnant women with the help of medical students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and Manchester University Medical School.

On the building side the perimeter wall is complete. We are waiting to see if we can get grants to erect the railings then we will plant bougainvillia around the site. It grows like a weed there.
