A+ Tuition can link you up with a tutor in two
ways:
- Directly with an A+ Tuition tutor - find a
tutor
- Through the adverts placed by tutors themselves on this site -
view adverts
|
| The second option is not under the control of A+ Tuition: |
- Individual tutors will have their own way or working: please discuss the
arrangements with the tutors directly.

|
| How A+ Tuition works is explained below...
|
| Q. Why should I consider home tutoring? |
| A. There are lots of reasons why someone might benefit from a little extra
help! With a personal tutor, the student has one-to-one attention, instant
feedback is available and the sessions are tailored to the needs of the student
- what could be better? |
| Q. What should I expect from the tutoring? |
| A. At the first meeting, the tutor, pupil and parents will complete an
initial fact-find, and agree the aims of the tutoring. This is intended to make
sure all the people involved know what to expect and what is expected of them.
|
| Q. Where do lessons take place? |
| A. Usually the tutor and pupil will meet at the pupil's house. They will
need a quiet area with a desk or table where they can work. It is requested
that interruptions are kept to a minimum, and mobile phones switched off. |
| Q. Will I have to do homework? |
| A. Homework is an important way of consolidating the sessions and will help
the pupil to get the most out of the tutoring. Any homework set will be
reasonable and will take account of school homework commitments. |
| Q. Will I have the same time slot every week? |
| A. Yes, unless both parent and tutor agree otherwise. If circumstances
change, the tutor will be happy to alter the time slot wherever possible,
depending on their individual timetable |
| Q. Do lessons continue through the school holidays? |
| A. Usually, unless agreed otherwise. |
| Q. What if a parent wishes to reschedule or cancel a particular session?
|
| A. The tutor will try to provide an alternative time slot to cover the
missed session. Clearly this may not always be possible. Cancellation charges
may apply. |
| Q. How much notice of cancellation does the parent need to provide?
|
| A. The more the better, one week is preferable as a minimum. The tutor will
provide similar notice. |
| Q. What are the charges for late cancellation? |
| A. In normal circumstances, 50% of the usual fee will be charged if the
tutor receives less than 72 hours notice. The full fee will be charged if the
cancellation is within 24 hours. |
| Q. Do you only provide tuition for children? |
| A. No - we can tutor any age! Adults are most welcome. Please read all
references to children/parents on this site as appropriate to you. |
| Q. How do we pay? |
| A. You can pay cash or cheque, after each session or even monthly
(conditions apply). Invoices are usually issued monthly. |
| Q. Are there any extra costs? |
| A. The pupil will need to provide their own writing materials, including
A4 paper and a ring binder. Usually a text book will be required (which can
often be borrowed from the pupil's school). Sometimes the tutor will recommend
a particular text book or set of practice papers: these can be provided at cost
to the parents. |
| Q. What notice of termination do I need to provide? |
| A. The more the better, but two weeks as a minimum. |
| IMPORTANT: Child Protection - a parent/other
responsible adult must always be present in the house during lessons. Your
tutor will not give a lesson if the pupil is alone, and cancellation fees may
apply. Your tutor is CRB-registered. |
