MUSIC AT ST PETER’S
Bringing Britain’s talented young professional musicians
to beautiful rural Mid Sussex in support of local charities

In the last two years audiences have been thrilled by performances at St Peter’s
of Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s Creation, using both local and professional musicians
conducted by Elizabeth Burgess, and the church is now building on this high quality
of music-
Elizabeth Burgess grew up in Handcross and Balcombe and attended Burgess Hill School for Girls. Having studied at Oxford University, where she was the first ever female organ scholar at Christ Church Cathedral, and the Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded a DipRAM for an outstanding final recital in piano accompaniment, she now performs professionally in London. Elizabeth works with musicians at London’s top concert venues and conservatoires, most recently accompanying Marcus Farnsworth to win the prestigious Wigmore Hall Song Competition in September 2009. She returns to her roots for the St Peter’s recitals, and swapping her conducting baton for the piano stool, will bring with her an array of young professional instrumentalists and singers down to Sussex.
Fundamental to the ethos of these recitals is the opportunity to support various local charities and organisations. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an exciting new generation of artists on your doorstep, and to support a different cause on each occasion.
