Week 9

Interested in another week through my eyes? If you’re really observant you may

have noticed I wasn’t in church on Sunday, I visited Patcham Church. Another

girl on the YES scheme, Zara was being confirmed and so I went to support her.

Twas such a lovely service too, there was even a rainbow over the church when

we came out.

Normal meeting with Gerry on Monday. Tuesday I was at St Peters school again doing lots of DT. Class 4 are making churches from wood but at the moment we’re just trying to get the dimensions, which is MUCH harder than it sounds! I also went to cookery club after school and I was grabbed to be the girls’ chef as we made lovely, fluffy fairy cakes (the boys LOVED IT).

Wednesday was very exciting and busy too. I faced possibly the scariest time so far during my YES year, I went to Oathall (Haywards Heath Secondary School) to talk to a year 11 GCSE R.E class with John. We talked about the life of a vicar, just war, early release of criminals, lots really and they were really quite stirred up about some of it which was fab! I then went back to St Peters for the rest of the day which I always love. For a special treat in the evening I went to Ardingly college chapel for a service by Bishop Lindsay who I love. It was very..err....incensey. but a good, different experience all the same, really enjoyed it.

Angels and Urchins was buzzing this week, paint and play dough, always great. Followed by an evening function at Caroline Cox’s, a Tearcraft party, which was also buzzing.....no paint though.

To develop my childrens’ ministry skills I went to a ‘trained to teach’ morning at Lindfield church led by Phil Moon. It was really cool to meet lots of other leaders and hear some of their ideas so I’ll try to use those more in future.    xxx
