Low -growing semi-evergreen with ferny silver foliage forming a carpet of pretty white

Acinos alpinus
Sometimes called Alpine Basil Thyme. As its name suggests it is a cushion forming small
perennial, covered in summer with spikes of white-lipped red-violet flowers. 10-20cm

A branching shrub that produces magnificent, black-purple, succulent, leaf rosettes at the
ends of its branches. Needs protection in the UK during winter.
Agastache aurantiaca
Native to Mexico, but grows on mountains, so enjoys a well drained site. Sometines called
orange hummingbird mint. Sweetly aromatic foliage.
Agastache 'Firebird'
Fragrant dusky green folaige with rich carmine pink flowers all through summer. like all
these agastaches, very attractive to bees, moths and butterflies. 30-40 cm
Agastache rugosa 'Golden Jubilee'
In spring the leaves appear as crinkled and tinged with dark purple, but open out to form
rosettes of bright golden scented foliage with purple blue fluffy flower spikes. Very striking.

Aloysia triphylla
Lemon verbena. One of the most deliciously fragrant shrubs. Excellent in large pots when it
can be placed near garden seats to make it easy to enjoy the heady lemon sherbet scent. Can
be late coming into leaf in the spring. Do not be tempted to throw it out! 100cm

Artemisia 'Valerie Finnis'
Boldly cut, aromatic, silvery-white leaves, becoming green with age. This semi-evergreen
perennial is an ideal groundcover plant for a sunny, well-drained rockery or gravel garden.
Drought tolerant once established, it's an excellent companion for white or brightly coloured
flowers. Up to 100cm
Arum dracunculus
Impressive deep purple-black spadex swith a shimmering purple-black lance which can reach 30cm or more. The leaves are pointed, heavily veined and very pretty in their own right. Sometimes called the "Voodoo Lily" it has a dramatic if slightly sinister appearance. When the flower is mature the smell is reminiscent of rotting meat, designed to attract flies for pollination. The smell only usually lasts for a day but you still may not want to plant it right next door to the house!
Asarum Europaeum
Robust and reliable groundcover plant with glossy attractive foliage even in dry shade.
These low, spreading plants have sweetly pungent roots which give rise to their common
name of 'wild ginger'. Exotic hooded purple-red flowers on 12cm stems appear in the spring
nestled under glossy rounded leaves.
Bellevalia pycnantha
Unique flower spikes of almost blueblack palest lemon yellow inside. Attractive deep green
foliage strappy foliage. Much stockier and more impressive than other grape hyacinths.
Highly recommended. 25cm

Wonderful succulent which resembles a set of protracting sabre teeth or a set of aeroplane

Dahlia 'Dark Desire'
A bronzed leaved variety with dark blood red, single flowers on a tall habit. Very floriferous
and much more subtle than most dahlias so sits well inthe border with other plants. Lift the
tubers to overwinter - although it has survived in the garden here in well drained soil for half
a dozen winters with no problem. 80cm

Curled and quilled scarlet red flowers over dark green foliage. Like 'Dark Desire', works

Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Northen Lights’
A most desirable and eye-catching ornamental grass. Narrowleaves striped pink and green

Dianella tasmanica ‘Tas Red’
This 'Flax Lily' has shiny green, strappy leaves which have varying hues of yellow and red
- mostly during the colder months. Short deep red flower stems emerge in spring later
followed by brilliant metallic blue berries in late summer. 40cm

Forms large rosettes of succulent foliage with bluish white leaves. Spikes of pink-orange

Small succulent with little grey hairy leaves with striking yellow-red flowers. Needs winter

Elymus magellanicus
A tufted cump-forming grass with the most intense blue foliage of all grasses with neat spikes of fawn flowers in June to October.  Does well on sandy or poor stony soil.  70cm
Eremurus 'Cleopatra'
Soaring, slender spikes of burnt-orange flowers in early and midsummer. Strap shaped,
bluish-green leave. Happiest in fertile, sandy, well-drained soil in full sun, where the roots
can be baked in  summer to encourage better flowering. 1.5 m
Eremurus himalaicus
A handsome perennial with a tuft of strap-shaped leaves at the base, and a spike of pure
white florets on a tall single stem. These magnificent plants are very tall and striking
producing bushy, bottlebrush type flower spikes of over one and a half metres. Excellent
for exotic planting schemes and make very long lasting cut flowers.
Eremurus ‘Romance’
Soaring, slender spikes of unusual salmon-coloured flowers in early and mid-summer above
strap-shaped, bluish-green leaves.
Eryngium variifolium
Small, grey-blue to pale blue, teasel-like flowers in July and August above rosettes of spiny,
white-marbled, dark green leaves. 40cm
Erysimum linifolium ‘Variegatum’
Hardy perennial, evergreen wall flower with wonderful variegated cream and green foliage
with light mauve flowers. A good splash of colour for a long period.
Eupatorium cannabinum
Like all eupatoriums, this is a late flowering shrub. This one has dense sprays of deep pink
flowers over narrow pointed leaves. 40-100cm
Eupatorium purpureum
Handsome hardy plant which can reach over 2m. Numerous frosty pink flower heads
grouped together to form a large pyramidal head.
Euphorbia amygdaloides ‘Amy Purpurea’
Dark bronze-green leaves with new shoots of deep purple and flowers of lime-green which last through spring.
Foeniculum vulgare ‘Rubrum’
Bronze fennel. Ferny foliage with a deep bronze hue. Fennel scented. Umbels of pale yellow
flowers.Great planted where it catches the morning sun - the evaporating dew in late summer will scent the whole garden. 1 -1.5m
Fritillaria acmopetala
Bell-like flowers with each petal flaring slightly at the base. Mid green flowers with the inner
petals quite heavily stained reddish-brown.30-40cm.
Fritillaria elwesii
A slender species with wiry but rigid stems carrying glaucous grey/green leaves. Tubular
flower purple-black & olive green flaring at the petal tips. 30cm
Fritillaria pallidiflora
Large and showy species with glaucous grey foliage and delightful, quite large pale yellow or creamy-white, broadly bell-shaped flowers. 30-40cm
Fritillaria persica
Handsome plant that sends up a sturdy column bearing thick strappy grey-green leaves and bears several pendulous, deep purple-black bells at the top. Very striking and exotic looking but perfectly hardy. One of the taller fritillaries. 75cm
Fritillaria Pontica
This fritillary has bell-shaped flowers of pale green, tinged maroon at the tips.
