Football's
coming home, and so are we.
A
long night partying in Koln, saw us return to our hotel
at 4 in the morning. We'd lost our voices, the presents
we'd bought for loved ones and most of our dignity! Up at
7, a quick breakfast and we loaded up the car for our return
trip to Calias. We dropped James off in Brighton, Mark in
Reading and Steve and I returned to Newbury for 8pm, 12
hours after we left Duren.

We've enjoyed a well earned
rest partying with the world in Koln. We've made it to the top of the
cathedral with our heavy legs. A real party atmosphere here with the very
colourful and vocal Angola and Portugal fans. Mark and James are
supporting Portugal whilst Steve and I are rooting for Angola. Team WCW

Day 5 - We did
it! The final day was hard but we made it. 414.81 miles in 5 very
hot days.
At the finish we were
welcomed to the town square by all my relatives waving English and German
flags. Now we are off for a slap up meal and some good beer. Thanks
again to all of you who have supported us. Team WCW

Day 4 - Open letter to
the minister for roads: Sir, please sort your roads out, they are awful!
Our longest day in the
saddle – 93 miles across Belgium. A total of two punctures today, one a piece
for Steve and I, so that’s one to everyone now. Roll
on Holland and Germany tomorrow and the finish.

Thursday June 8th 2006
Day 3 was a day of two halves. The
morning was lovely green rolling fields of France, the afternoon we were lost
in Lille. It took us two hours to
get through, and on top of that James ‘I always get punctures’ Gosney lived up
to his name. 88 miles covered
today which makes 250 in total and we are now in Belgium. Over
half distance and just two days to go.
Come on World Cup Wheels, you can do it!

Day 2. We made an early start
knowing we had a long day ahead of us. Again really hot, what have we
done to deserve this? We stopped for lunch at the Worlds Wonder pub in
Warehorne, Kent. Many thanks to the landlady Kathy for looking after us
and for her very generous donation.
We made it to Dover by 3pm, just in time for our ferry at
6pm! 76 miles in total, and the last hill out of Folkestone nearly
finished me. Look out France here we come!

(6/6/6)
Day 1 and at last we are off. After months
of planning we hit the road, then had to turn back because we forgot the map.Eventually
got started by 8am.The day turned out to
be very very hot but after successfully dodging the traffic on the A272 we
arrived at Haywards Heath at 3:15, 86 miles away from the start line.

Here we are packed and ready to go the
night before the off. As you can see, the support vehicle is loaded up with our
stuff, now all we need is to get on the bikes and get going tomorrow morning!
Thank you again to all who have helped us
smash our target and raise over £7000 for Leukaemia and Cancer Research!
