Experimental Internet Card Readings

I had responses from 7 out of 10 participants, which is enough for present purposes. The overall average results were as followed (Nb, "ambiguous hits/misses" were all marked as ambiguous):
52.9% were marked as Hit,
31.4% were marked as Ambiguous,
15.7% were marked as Miss.

At first glance, this looks above what would be possible through random chance - but it isn't necessarily! What is important is to consider possible mechanisms which would return this type of results.

(a) Cards fall in meaningful patterns. Since the cards are finite in number and something really important is unlikely to be happening in every aspect of a person's life, this problem (plus failures on the part of the person explaining the cards) would explain why 100% success can not be achieved.

(b) Cards fall in random patterns. The recipient expects the cards to have meaning and, looking for that, finds it! As a result, 100% failure is unlikely.

(c) Cheating! The card reader researches information on the querents and makes the cards fit. Since it is impossible to find out everything and the querent's responses are not completely predictable, 100% success is unlikely.
