TITLE: RAF Helps to Feed Marshal Tito's Forces
DESCRIPTION: Marshal Tito's forces, fighting the Germans in Yugoslavia, are being fed and clothed mainly through the efforts of the crews of the Liberators, Wellingtons, and Halifaxes of an RAF Heavy bomber group of the Bulkan Air force. The RAF Heavy Bomber group in Italy have recently dropped nearly 1,00 tons of food, ammunition, medical supplies, clothing, boots and arms to Marshal Tito's forces. One message received from Yugoslavian sources said, "Please thank the Liberators and Wellingtons for their fine performance in coming down through ten-tenths cloud today to drop in bad visibility. All stores will be recovered. Hope all return safely" South African Air Force Liberators are concerned with RAF Squadrons in maintaining this supply line to Marshal Tito. These pictures, taken by Flight Lieut. Gilbert Graham, D.F.M, a Liberator air gunner from Thursby, Carlisle, illustrate the dropping of supplies on the snow-covered countryside over which the 'heavies' operate. It is by no means an easy task, because of the nature of the country, some of the most hazardous flying country in Europe. Picture Shows: Canisters containing medical supplies, going down in a perfect 'drop' at the appointed spot.
