The Bailey Bridge: First Pictures Released (June 1944)
The Bailey bridge is the best answer yet to the enemy's demolitions, and has greatly facilitated the Allied advance in both Italy and Normandy. It is a British invention and is named after its inventor, Mr D. C. Bailey of the Ministry of Supply. Components, which are made both in the USA and Britain, are interchangeable and can be speedily put together. This, together with its great strength, makes it ideal for every purpose for which a bridge is required.
