British Attack Opens in France
Following a terrific barrage by massed field guns. British forces opened an attack in the neighbourhood of Tilly on June 26th, and considerable breaches were made in the enemy lines. The action was of a very fierce nature with house to house fighting in the villages. Large numbers of tanks were deployed by both sides. This picture was taken by an Army photographer who went in with the first wave of the assault.
