DESCRIPTION: The town of Impruneta just south of Florence fell to advancing South Africans and British Guardsmen on 3rd August 1944. The Germans defended the town stubbornly and for a considerable time held up the Allied advance into Florence. Picture shows: British tanks pushing on through the town in pursuit of the enemy. 15.8.1944
