The War in the Imphal Hills
In spite of difficult monsoon conditions, British and Indian troops are fighting stubborn
battles against the Japanese in the hilly countryside adjoining the Imphal plain, having pushed the enemy
out of Kohima and the surrounding ridges. Accurate gunnery has helped the infantry to capture many
Japanese strongpoints. Picture shows: Men of a famous British county Regiment combing the elephant grass
