| OTHER INFO | This was the first serious use of my star tracker. It was a very cold night -10C. The Scotsman newspaper had the headline "Coldest Night in Years". I eventually had to pack up due to ice forming everywhere. The greenish cast to the image is typical of this Fuji film. It is poor at recording red nebulosity but it is good at recording faint stars. I remember looking at this slide through a microscope for the first time and being amazed at the number of stars recorded and their colours. The above image does not do the slide justice. This is a link to a close up around Betelgeuse, a red super giant, at the top left of Orion. I used this slide to make a fun animation of Betlegeuse going supernova. See 'Unusual' section on the Menu. |
